looking at the side of it you can see where the top shelf of it fits under the top brace on the back wall and the face of the box goes up over that brace and is level with the storage tray next to it.

    Fellas,
Hoping I can jump in here for some advice. I've just acquired a tacoma double cab and am looking to upgrade the stereo and speakers. I've asked some questions on my own thread and have got little response.

I have noted the disdain for taco tunes around here and am looking for speaker adapters. Have read the recomendation of this mysterious Mr Marv and don't know how to proceed. Does he have a website?

What about speaker selection? I'm still lost in trying to figure out a good set of seperates for the front doors without spending a fortune.

If anybody can offer some guidance I'd be very grateful.

Mr. Marv is a member here that has done a lot of DIY threads and such.

Check his sticky thread here: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/au...uble-cab-complete-audio-install-tutorial.html

And his info in his signature: Marv's Place Custom Built Enclosures/amp racks/speaker adapters etc

I could knock out a set, but I'm out of expanded PVC right now.

As far as speakers go - you'll be all over the board there. Also depends on what you're wanting to pay, what size are you wanting to run, are you amping them or headunit power, etc.

What did you use for sound deadening material? How much of a difference did just doing the doors make? And how do you do both inside and out? Where else do you apply it other then just behind the door panel?

There is the inner door skin and outer door skin,
I.e there is a metal surface facing your inside of the truck that the plastic panel mounts to.

then behind that metal skin is a hollow area which the window slides into etc. That there is the outer skin, where you apply deadener to on the inside of the outer skin per say

the deadener I used didn't have a name on it but if I remember correctly the box said gti. got it from a guy I work with who bought it for his truck way back but never installed it. did the front doors and have enough to do the back doors someday. you can tell a difference just shutting door. someday I would like to take the seats and carpet out to do the floor.

OK, I think I understand. You are reaching through the holes on the inside of the door to apply the material to the inside of the outer shell of the door. I think I can handle that. Thanks

yes that's how I did mine. there is a panel on the left you can take off and the speaker on the bottom right to get to the inside of the door.

Thanks. About how much material did you use per door (sq ft?)? I'm trying to decide if I want to just tackle deadening and speakers in the front doors or if I want to do the rears as well. Also, when the stereo is off, is the cabin noticeably quieter with the sound deadening installed than before it was installed?

I used 2 - 18"x36" on the inside of the door and 2 - 18"x36" on the outside. cut them in strips to make it easier. I also used 3m strip calk on both sides of the speaker adapters. its like window ribbon tape. as far as quieter without the radio on... I noticed a little difference but I have only done the front doors. I do plan on doing the back doors and the floor someday. I think you would really notice it if you did it all at once and used a quality deadener.

You can do an entire 05+ interior, minus headliner, with 100sqft. That's all doors, floor, rear wall, pillars and door panel interior. I'd also look up a product called Luxury Mat Pro for the rear wall. It made a huge difference in my '12 access cab.

    Deadener makes a massive difference.
I had a wall in my truck before so my rear doors are still not done and believe me,
There is a huge difference. The front doors are Solid, my roof is how ever the most solid. The roof pulled away from the roof cross members due to pressure. I had to use rockhardsolutions which is a deadener that becomes non pliable after heat and application essentially making it into " pseudo metal " then deadener over it.

The biggest reduction is road noise and reduced vibration from speakers.

There is no point in putting any speakers worth mentioned into a non prepped cavity
