Not sure I've heard of cola doing anything to a blade (except rust removal), but citric acid will help force a patina, but not very similar to the stonewash look. You CAN achieve that look with PCB etchant from Radio Shack, though. I've done it to blades in the past, works great.

Accusharp and Smith's work fine in my experience, they're not fabulous by any means but they sharpen just fine. If you've heavily dulled your Leek it might need a lot of time with an Accusharp to bring an edge back, I'm not sure if the single sharpeners come with Coarse or Fine rods, but if that's what you have, keep going through it with the Leek until you start getting some edge performance, then keep going. You can use the ceramic rod as a finishing hone because I assume it's definitely a finer rod than the Accusharp has.

Anyway, you can get a serviceable edge with the Accusharp, it might just take a while. They're not meant to bring back severely dulled edges, so a dozen swipes won't yield any result that is noticeable. If your edge needs reprofiling, I'd just send it back to Kershaw and have them reprofile and put a factory edge back on it for you, and then all you need to do is maintain your edge and not let it get so dull in the future. Knives don't need sharpening if you do edge maintenance. Sharpening removes a lot more material and will diminish the longevity of your knife, honing should be plenty to keep your edge razor sharp, 30 seconds a day is all it takes. I haven't sharpened my EDC in over a year.

Great eastern cutlery 15, spearpoint, capped, in Gabon ebony. I have 3 other GECs on order in other configurations. This one is taking a nice patina - the apple giveth patina, the acidic lime or tangerine taketh that patina away.

Nice Benchmade collection! And the GEC is pretty sweet too. I've been looking at the GEC #99 with the burnt stag scales.

Just got one of these a few weeks ago. First single blade knife. Very nice spring assist and can be put away with one hand easily. Very sturdy construction too.

    Gotta love the Kershaw knives
