I like it. I hope it doesn't let me down when Toyota releases MPG and power numbers. But for the most part, I resent buy a 2014 now. Oh well, a few years away it'll be paid off, the bugs will be gone in the 3rd gen and I will buy one then. I want the ACLB TRDOR in Desert Tan with a 6cyl and auto trans.

As I said in another thread..... when folks start buying them and talking about them on this forum... There will be nothing but JEALOUSY.

I'm excited for one..... I'm on 8 years with my 07 and I'm due for new.

There's a lot of folks who aren't truly Toyota loyal -

My thoughts while reading all those complaints... "Don't let the door hit you on the way out":D

I'm jealous of the heated mirrors, tan leather and possibly the MPG's of the new trans/3.5 combo

I very anxious to hear real world reviews!

People are going to hate. Yes its got some major changes but just give it time....people will start to love it again. Just like any other change in other makes and models...people dont like it at first but once they get used to it they start liking it.

Here is my thing about the poeple crying for a full and complete redesign, how many years do you think it would take to get all of those bugs out. Lets build a new truck from the ground up without true and proven technology and stuff. I think there would be way more problems with a full redesign than building on what is already proven.

I like the embossed tailgate and at least some of the middle of the truck.

Due to the nature of this thread, here is a list of what I'm not going to talk about here:

    1. How ugly I think the grill is
    2. How ugly I think the headlights are
    3. How ugly I think the tail lights are
    4. How much I dislike the addition of all the new "angles" in the body instead of smooth curves
    5. My general dissatisfaction with the "look" of the truck as whole package

I'm not hatin', just statin'...what I'm not going to discuss :luvya:

Seriously, you couldn't just complain in one of the other two dozen fuckin' hate threads on that ... Poor form. :(

I wasn't complaining. Honestly. In fact, the first line of my post indicated that I liked the new tailgate. :)

Then I simply listed what I would not discuss in this thread. :D

Hater-haters are always gonna hate the haters even when the haters aren't hating...There's so much hate in your post.

I've been sitting on the sideline for YEARS waiting for Toyota to put a modern engine, transmission, and interior into the Tacoma. This is not a knock on the current product, which I think is pretty good, but things like mileage and interior creature comforts are important to me no matter if the subject vehicle is a truck or a car. It appears that Toyota clearly determined that there are 10s of thousands of consumers out there just like me, so they listened, & it sure looks like they delivered on just about all all fronts... hallelujah!

I've been waiting so long for Toyota to do something about the Tacoma that I actually started to think about the Canyon. What Toyota has just unveiled has completely brought me back into the fold.

I am definitely shopping for one either late in the '16 or early '17 model year.

There is no perfect production vehicle that meets every wish I have e.g. I hate leather but love bells & whistles... A car or truck configured like that is almost impossible to find from any manufacturer, thus there are things about the new Tacoma I don't like, but those are few and relatively inconsequential in the bigger picture.

Fair enough ... Just don't see why it was necessary to list them out.

It was a torque contest. He lost.
From a fellow Captain America, I'm really glad you're considering Toyota. After learning about how reliable the name is, I would be surprised if I ever drove anything else. Tacoma til death.
That's silly. How would they make any profit? The R&D for the new design will put those steps at an unbeatable $8,000. Plus 25% tax and 15% unstocking fee.
Welcome to TacomaWorld! Where we drive the best trucks but can't stand them in stock form so we mod the piss out of them!

And if they don't like it, they can always take a gander at what Nissan is offering for 2016! :rimshot:

First time post. I frankly have not liked the tacoma since they changed the body style from my 2001 to the version 2015. All the vehicles were made to look puffy and bloated. Cannot stand them. The TRD Sport is a joke with the way the hood looks with the scoop. The bloated look reminds me of my girlfriend on her period. I realize our society is fat but do we have to make our vehicles the same.

What I like about the 2016:
The body is boxier-they removed the puffiness-cleaner lines.
The interior looks great-like the layout-just hope they still have 4 drink holders up front.
Like the moon roof option and it looks like they upgraded the interior
Need specs on the rest-but seems they put thought into it

Concerns: Am I still stuck either getting the Limited with a nice interior or the TRD off Road but not both. That is what I like about the raptor-nice interior-excellent off road features.
The engine-I know nothing about the 3.5 but I am hoping there will be a way to modify to increase HP without blowing the warranty.
Finally: what to do with my 2001 4door TRD off road prerunner that has 198k miles and not a single engine issue or breakdown nothing-a perfect machine. I have owned a chevy truck and nissan pathfinder and both broke down at about 33k. I think I will just park it. Just recently the paint started to deal and I think it was my fault. Neglect. The quality is why I have not gotten a raptor-I went to Ford to get one but just didn't trust the quality. They may be reliable but owning a tacoma has been one of the best buys of my life.
