For the most part, yes. I did see one a year or two ago that was like $100ish and it was a lot 'smarter' than these dumb ones that are 1/10th the price. I forget what all it did but there were a few features it offered that were nice but nothing I would say came anywhere near justifying the price. Quicker connection and better performance. It had a few power features that did things like shut it down when the vehicle was shut down or when not in use and stuff like that. I don't recall exactly what the features were but it's nothing you need. It was more a list of stuff I read through and went, 'Yeah, that's a good idea I guess' but not worthy of the price tag at all.

Damn you appear to welding some thick shit. Looking good Ray. Hopefully I will pull the trigger on a welder this year. I know I need some practice.

How thick is that? weld looks solid... though you may want to run a couple passes so the weld goes at a 45* all the way up to the lip... $.02 in school they always harped on making sure it goes all the way up to the lip or it wouldn't pass inspection... Course you do have a hell of a lot more real world experience

My last name is Steele. My wife wanted me to hyphenate my last name with hers when we married but a middle school teacher with the last name Steele-Johnson just doesn't work.

So I had a mini freak out last night. 5 am I hear my truck start outside. I fly out of bed thinking someone is stealing it. Stumbling through the house from a dead sleep lol

But turns out my remote start decided to start itself for no reason  so going to get it looked at.

When you do and you need some scrap steel. Hit me up I can bring some over you can practice on. Instead of spending money on it. I can get anything from 1/8"- 1" thick steel.

It's a two layer metal, 1-4" steel plate with some special kind of mixed metal for the top layer. That is about 1/2"-3/8". It's used for high heat situation. The asphalt constantly rides on it. And with the amount of weld I have on there it's beefy enought because we run our welders way hot to penetrate deep. Every situation dictates depending what the weld is for and the kind of metal used. You don't always have to go all the way up at 45. Then your just waisting rod.

Then I should tell you that my father-in-law told me that if I could convince her to abandon the big, catholic wedding and elope, he would cut us a check for $10k. The wife said she would only elope if I took her name and hyphenated.
Pretty intense situation that shouldn't have been intense. If I thought she would have actually eloped had I agreed, the truck might have a front locker right now as well...

gotcha... you may have trouble with fusion with that top layer anyways considering it's use... wasn't sure if this was job related or just something you were fabricating at home

In a nutshell...We are out here in Red Feathers, did some driving and had to circle back down a road to check on the wife as she seemed to be struggling in the snow that I just went through, but only she's in her Heep...I underestimated the snow coming down and made the mistake of stopping when pulling up next to her....I ended up pretty deep, and a little high centered....can't wait for my lift and tires! (PS- these are stock Michelins ...Eric lol)

1st gen winched me out..some guy out of Ft Collins named Ben...after he winched me he had trouble wheeling the line back in as he used it to pull down a tree last night, so I helped him unwind the spool, and feed it back in the housing.
