Welcome to TW!!! Good observations, but a very unusual opinion of the 2nd gens. Either way, glad to have you.

As for the engine, I would put money on it that the new engine will have an increase in HP, TQ, and MPG. And not by a small amount.

If that were not the case, Toyota would not put it in their best selling truck and claim to have the highest TQ in the midsize segment.

Difference of perspective; I'd say you childishly and intentionally violated the spirit of the op's thread and I called you on it. Enjoy your games though.

Ok, to be fair, Despite all the things I don't like about the 2016, it's still better than this:

Mary had a lttle Ram...little Ram...little Ram :cookiemonster:

Looks like it's actually a fiat in sheep's clothing.

I just paid 36.5K for a 2015 ACLBORDCSPORT Arctic Blue with dealer pin stripe. I really don't understand all this talk about the 2016 and really think my truck is the GREATEST! The bodywork on the 2016 is the same as the 2015, the motor is smaller and the interior really SUCKS! I am soooooooo glad I didn't wait for a 2016!!!!!!

Awesome thread so far Scott

    My favorites so far:

modern interior, gauge cluster, Upgraded 2GR potential to be most loved engine to ever be put in a Tacoma, No VCM aka Variable Cylinder Management like what Honda has in their V6, Toyota engineer saying they fixed the infamous driveline vibe common on the 2nd gen, Projector headlights, Return of ECT Power button for Knight Ridder mode, wireless charging, dual climate control, heated side mirrors, locking tailgate, and 6spd auto

TRD BAJA Suspension...Rims and tires, blackout badging, TRD oil filler cap, front skid plate, N-Fab step bars, GrillCraft custom upper and lower grills. K&N air filter, TRD Supercharger.

Gonna be a busy test-drive with all those features and so much more! I really like the sunroof option, dual climate control is gonna rock, heated mirrors and that FJ-style dash!

Cannot wait for a heads-up comparison with the competition! :D

I get a new vehicle every year and wanted to try a Ridgeline. Had many Toyotas in past and Toyota is in my blood. Also worked for and partially owned several companies that were affiliated with Toyota USA and I helped Toyota - Japan open up Africa. And even met Mr Toyoda soooooo I think I can stay here.

Also, will get a new Tacoma, and find this a nice place for general experience issues and info.

Have a great day there Devin.

PS. Hope I have satisfied your curiosity about my attendance here.

PPS. The driveline vibes were driving me crazy too, but I think they have solved that now with the chassis changes.

Ummm, looks like the no bitchin' thread has devolved.

I like the push button start. My first pickup had push button start but it was located on the floor where the dimmer switch also used to be. Any chance of that returning? My left foot has nothing to do now and they wouldn't need a dead pedal.

So talking everything old is new again, my first car also had a six speed manual. Three on the tree plus overdrive. Overdrive was about a 33% difference in gearing and available in all transmission ratios. Handy little kick down switch under the accelerator pedal allowed easy access to the non overdrive ratio. Good for passing and a little fun around town and the "six speed" only required three manual gear changes.

See now wasn't that a little less stressful!

I like the truck. The interior looks nice. I like the look of the outside as well. I'm excited for the sport model to be unveiled and engine specs.

Nice to see a thread that has no complaining (mostly) regarding the '16 Tacoma.

I will purchase my first truck this year and wanted to get the best mid-sized truck for my money. Due to my car being in the shop last fall, I was able to rent a Tacoma and Frontier for 3 days each. This was great compared to a 15-20 minute test drive you would normally get from a dealership. After 3 days each, I was sold on the Tacoma and in November was ready to make my purchase. That was when I found out about the '16's and decided to hold off until the details of changes were presented.

I am glad I waited! I think the '16 Tacoma looks aggressive, the updated interior and options are a plus, and it would appear that the new engine/transmission will be a solid leap forward as well. Now the hard part is waiting another 8-10 months...

Personally, I think that the 2016 Tacoma represents a giant leap forward for Toyota. The diesel is the main thing that they could not get a quick payback on and keep their market shares is what I understand (especially with Toyota's high QC standards ... i.e. $$$ vs QC).

The main thing to focus on with a new model change is "quickly address any build issues" FAST.

I was at a Ford (love the aluminum idea) and saw rear doors coming off the assembly line (outside the building) with back doors (crew cabs) "sprung" out of alignment. Bottom back edges out almost 1/2" and top in 1/4" from outside body surfaces. Some of the doors just needed an adjustment and some "looked sprung/twisted in press bonding process". Can't really tell what is exactly wrong, unless you are working on it and they would not say what the issue(s) were. .... Front doors looked fine.

As long as Toyota keeps up with technology and build quality with the Tacoma, they will stay on top.:D.

I love the new 2016 Tacoma (95% & never seen a 100%er) and Toyota adds goodies as time goes on too ... :D ... Just let the "haters" hate ..... because that is what they do best ... :D

Toyota is a high quality company and is basically conservative in nature and likes to do business with people & companies after a long (get to know you) period. Asians are conservative and Toyota-Japan is even more conservative.

There was an old saying in business (I am an old guy) .... (1) Americans look for market shares & profits for the "next quarter (3 months)" and (2) The Asians look for "market shares & profits in the next quarter of a century".

The gauges are hideous! Fix those and disc brakes on the rear and I'm there.
