Replacing my valve cover gaskets this weekend as the smell is getting worse and the truck is running rougher. I already purchased the gaskets, but do I need any adhesive for the gaskets? Or do they just pop in?

Take pictures and make sure to remember where everything goes, pretty simple task, hardest part for me my first time was making sure I connected everything back up correctly

The half moons are the pieces of metal (half moon shape) that you remove to get access to the cam shaft. You can see one on the front of the engine. I didn't re-RTV them and mine started leaking after I swapped the valve cover gasket.

Use Toyota FIPG and reseal the cam plugs while using Toyota OEM gaskets. Install a new PCV valve while you're there.

Take your time, clean the gasket surfaces very well and properly torque the valve covers according to the OE service procedure.

Ok I reused my washers there fine, I did get the autozone kit, however I had to go to toyota to get new spark plug grommets. I installed the ones from the kit backwards( easy to do). The yota ones are better and go in easer.
    The yota stuff fits better

Just got a co-worker to help me with this today and got it done. Truck runs wonderfully. Used complete Toyota parts. Apparently the vcg's were done before poorly and had window silicone on them. Replaced those as well as the spark plug grommets because the plug wire itself was ridiculously loose. All the bolts for the valve covers were loose too. Could have unscrewed them by hand.

I’d go with all oem parts on this since it’s such a pain if something doesn’t hold up.. I’d hate to do this annually.
