    Build thread coming soon!
I bought mine off ebay from Frank Toyota Scion in California for $3800 US when our dollar was basically on par- it came to $3996 w/exchange. They shipped it for free to At The Border Storage in Sweetgrass and they only charged me $15 to keep it there for 3 weeks. There was no duty, I only paid gst.
Took my car down to pick it up (1400 km round trip) which cost me about $80 for fuel, installed it myself because I don't get the dealer to do warranty work anyways, and had it programmed by the service manager after hours. Total investment $4500 CDN

I like the ricer pod. Does the color match? Is the fit/finish poor? I actually think that's the direction I'm going. BTW, I suck at pulling wire through that steering column bushing. I ran my lights through another plug on the firewall. I'll go back there again.

RL, where did you go? Did you get a better offer on Saturday night? We're all talking about your gauge pod and we need data!

He probably got a better offer.

To any of you guys running the 2.85" pulley: I really want one and I read through a thread (maybe the deleted one) where a guy installed it and made it sound complicated. I think you get the pulley and puller from URD and it should be a straight forward process. Is it hard to get the belt off? There are idlers so I'm thinking that should be easy too. I don't want to jack my warantee, but HP is like a drug. You want more.

There's also nothing in writing saying Toyota has to warranty your S/C purchased from America yet installed in Canada. There's lots of cases where dealers refused situations on American warranties and the only ones I know of personally where people won was when the car was stock. Calm down, I didn't make a blanket statement. This isn't a thread about what you should or shouldn't import and install into your Tacoma. I merely stated that one of the financial benefits of finding a very comparative deal to importing the S/C from the USA, which was actually going to cost me more than ordering it in up here, was that I can 100 percent for sure say that I'm covered by Toyota for my entire 7 year/160,000 km extended warrenty. I can't say that about guys who order there S/C from the USA into Canada, and honestly neither can you. Now lets get back to some S/C talk

.... so for a non warranty vehicle I would of went that way too? Installing yourself always saves you money when you have the time. For me installing myself was never an option since I would of lost my extended warranty (self installs do not get the remainder of Toyota's extended warranty, it's right in the TRD Supercharger literature package). The dollar isn't on par anymore. That's also ridiculous good gas mileage... Congrats for you. A S/C installed for $6250 on a truck with warranty is a good deal in Canada right now. Let's move on :)

I just wanted to emphasize my point because you are not the first person to say this. I actually think it is quite relevant as you can save up to 2000 (well you could before the dollar went to shit) so it would open the door for more Canadians to supercharge their trucks.
Just like the TSB and OEM warranty work, having a solid dealership makes a huge difference. Once you find a good one, stick with them!
Also, I would agree getting the install done by the dealership is worth it for warranty reasons, and 800 dollars for the install should be the max someone pays.
    Anyways, back to the thread.....

Hey does your truck has side curtain air bags? I know the earlier year trucks don't have them so they definitely lucked out.

Here's someone who did contact Toyota Canada and you can see how wishy washy the situation gets. I didn't want to have to deal with any of that. I mean, too really make sure, I would of had to of found a dealer who wanted to play ball with an American S/C and then I would of had to of got him to sign a piece of paper saying he authorized me to have full warranty. Even then, if he gets fired, my legal right to demand full warranty is pretty hazy and could require a court ruling.

Anyways, that's why I didn't specify a value on avoiding all that. For some people that wouldn't scare them off at all and they'll just go ahead and buy an American TRD S/C and have a Canadian dealer install it. For me I wanted to be 100% sure that a dealer would cover my ass if something went wrong.

When I got my S/C installed this spring it was cheaper to do everything in Canada. You're right that it's not going to be that way when the dollar is par. Back to the thread... It's a good topic to cover anyways since I'm sure we aren't the first people from Canada to try and figure this out.

You'll get a nice close up view of your AFR if you ever get hit on the drivers door hard enough :D.

I have to say I am totally on the fence. Watch at about the 1 minute mark. Pillar does still look pretty intact. I really want to get one too.

Yeah, but that pillar is designed to detach/deploy the airbag like Toyota designed it too. Some piece of plastic made by a group of tuners won't have any sort of crash testing. Who knows what'll happen in a crash. Then again, most of us never get T-boned like that so it's up to you to decide how much risk you like to take.

For me, I'll stick to the FlexPod when I order gauges. Then there's no risk of having my boost gauge rammed down my throat in an accident.

I'm not going to install either of those. I thought about installing an oil pressure gauge but in the end I think putting in that T with hydralic parts is probably just adding one more place for my system to fail. I do get your point though, if you're really going to get into tuning and running a TRD S/C hard installing more gauges than two will be necessary. All I want is boost and AFR. Right now I have nothing :(. Correction, I have scangauge AFR's :anonymous:.

That's my only concern. I just ended up just getting the Cravenspeed Flexpod for my wideband AFR and vacuum/boost gauge. I would like to get a exhaust temp gauge but I don't want to clutter up the dash with endless gauges.

Right on  I already got the AEM wideband, just waiting for Speedhut to build my vacuum/boost gauge. It's a 10 psi version. I hate buying a 20 or 30 psi boost gauge if I'm not using the full sweep. The part that sucks is that it's a custom built part so I gotta wait 3-4 weeks plus shipping time. :(

I'm really tempted to buy that same gauge too. Why have a gauge that reads 30 PSI if I can never put that much boost into my engine anyways with the setup I have.

I'm probably going to do gauges, my fuel pump (I'm not causing shit, I just already have it so I'm going to install it), and the 2.85" pulley at the same time. Then I'll feel pretty happy with my setup, hopefully for a while.
