I like it even though I bitch about power seats and power rear window. My son will start driving in 2.5 years and the 2012 TRD Sport will go to him and I'll get either an '17 or '18 TRD again. ...

Thanks! I was about to purchase a 2015 but wanted to wait for the 2016 to be revealed. And now I can't decide what to do. Figure I'll try to wait for the actual specs to be released before I make a decision to buy or wait.

I'm looking forward to it. If I had the money I'd be tempted to buy a 3rd gen and give it a whirl. For now I'll just settle with my 13

I think there are enough positive changes in the 2016 to force me to wait another 8 or 9 months I guess.

HP maybe but not torque...your truck is producing 334lbtq at the crank and the new one I'm betting will have 278lbtq...I miss my 2011 Tacoma with the TRD SC on it :burnrubber::burnrubber:

I really lke the look of the 16. It has some new lines but still looks like a Taco.
The tailgate looks good. I like the handle/camera/lock. A lock!!!
The interior upgrade is where I think Toyota gets it. I bought my 13 with lots of love but very underwelmed by the interior. My wife's 11 Honda Pilot is so much nicer.
Looking forward to seeing how Toyota brings the creature comforts to this truck.

NO NO NO, it can't be!!! It can't be "all new". All the "experts" (haters) on here said it's exactly the same. They said the Toyota engineer was full of ca ca.

Don't believe those TFL Truck guys I tell you. They're obviously Toyota fan boy employee double agents.:annoyed::deadhorse::stirthepot:

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
or do something incredible. I'll never forget the morning my Dad said "hop in; we're going for a ride" Upon arrival at "some";) Nissan dealer there were 5 brand new red 84 720 KC 2wd's sitting in a line-up. One had white wagon wheels. Dad said "pick one, it's your truck"

I dissent. It's plain irresponsible to let a youngster novice drive a heavy and piss poor handling (compared to a regular car) vehicle like Tacoma. I don't care how convinced he is how mature and responsible his son is, the overwhelming probability is that he is not. It's just biology of a young (particularly male) human brain. For his sake and others, it's better to put him in a regular not too powerful car with excellent handling (AWD car like Subaru would be a plus, manual transmission even a bigger plus - teaches one how to drive and reduces opportunities for distracted driving). Even better would be to delay his driving until 18 or 20 years old or later (granted he did not state the son's age).

I understand your logic but it's still up to the parents to decide, not you, not me, not complete strangers. Since no of us know first hand how his son is unlike his parents.

Dowhat? I'm no professional driver, but my first truck was a 2007 AC 2.7L manual transmission. Great little truck I wish I never convinced my parents to sell for my current baby, 2007 DCSB 4.0L AT. What's wrong with driving a Taco? If you're going to take ANY precaution in what you put your child in, put him in something SAFE like a truck. What have you been doing in your Tacoma that show piss poor handling? Mine drives like a champ.

A good friend of mine (whose first truck was a POS 2000 single cab manual transmimssion nissan frontier) has a spoiled-as-hell little brother. Since he "has trouble focusing" his parents are buying him one of the new cars that has blind spot monitoring and lane swerve detection or whatever. And I think it's the stupidest thing ever because this kid is A. Never going to learn how to drive and B. Learn that if you perform poorly enough everything will be handled to you and others will do your work for you.

I am no parent and I know I don't really have the right to speak like one, but I plan to stick my kid in an access cab manual transmission 2wd first gen Taco. This way he can learn to drive manual, learn to live with an access cab, learn to deal with a 4cyl if I give him one, and so on. The point is he can go without for a little while to learn and understand what it's like and when he buys his own car he can get a DCLB AT Super TRD PLUS++ Gold Edition with ass scratchers if he wants.

And I will teach him how to handle a truck before he's old enough to drive.

People who are obsessed with the new truck are also as bad as the haters. Goes both ways. Only a few constructive threads, as new info is released knowledge is gained, both sides have been wrong and lets be honest no one has driven or bought one yet to verify or say anything.
