I think the 1720 or 1750 would be better. That seems a bit short to have 1" foam at the ends of the gun.

    Thanks for the help.

Pelican FTW unless you can pony up the extra dough for an SKB or something

I have several smaller Pelican cases to hold various pistols/gopro/etc and they get tossed around and jostled and such and take every bit of that abuse

I finally saw a broken Pelican case a week or so ago...it was 10+ years old and had held camera equipment...and it had some cracking in the corner...Pelican replaced it no questions asked and had the owner destroy it in the field and send them pics

I use a 1700 pelican for a 16" bbl AR with UBR stock.

Here is one setup using a 1700, hand carrying optics.

Here is a second foam insert I am working on for a different rifle.

I have 1 case and a couple foam setups for different rifles. I have been traveling with my rifles for years hunting all over the U.S. NO ISSUES yet. Knock on wood.

Woke up late but i have the mags. First impression is they look to be redone compared to those other reviews. They have a thicker plastic now and with the follower pushed down i couldnt squeeze the top at all. they appear decent though, ill know more when i load/shoot

I'm going with the Pelican 1750. That way all I need to do is get additional foam inserts to keep on hand and I can custom tailor them to all my travel needs. Be it shotgun, deer rifle, etc. I think it's the way to go for me.

I use the same size storm case. It doesn't look as cool as carefully cut foam but I find it more practical to just throw a soft case inside the hard case. When I get to a match I leave the Storm case behind and just roll with the soft case. Again, not as cool looking but more practical in my experience

Hera 30 round mag vs 30 round pmag.

The hera went in smoothly and dropped out without any touch just like the pmag.

Only issue i see so far is the follower doesnt quite maintain level pushing on either end while the pmag does.

And now for something completely different...

Thoughts? I'm pretty excited about this. I love fixed optics paired with red dots(ECOS is the greatest optic ever), and this is taking things to the next level.
I've been thinking about a Mark 6 1-6 for a while, but I may have to rethink that. Can't wait to see what they say about it at SHOT!

Meh. Its expensive. Looks to be around 2300 for the "scope" and RDS from what i have heard. I'd rather do a Nightforce 2.5-10 with a RMR or vortex red dot myself.

But to each their own...it is a neat idea. Be interesting to see the Gen II in a few years and how it evolves

Yeah, I'm not so hot on the price. Typical Leupold, pricing themselves out of the civilian market.

I understand what you're saying about the Variable/red dot combo. I have a Vortex 2.5-10x32 with an offset RDS on my SPR. But I think this is made to compliment the RDS as the primary optic on an assault rifle as opposed to the usual opposite configuration. Keeping that in mind, I think it's an awesome idea, but way too rich for my wallet. I guess the Mark 6 is still on the table for me if I ever feel like I need more xx's than the ACOG/RMR gives me.

I picked up the Plano double rifle case. Very heavy construction and half the price of pelican. 6 clamp locks, 2 of which lock. Has breather and wheels. Love the case. All pluck foam. 150 bucks from Finb4b9595914280d3c575c01600f359969_e33a76f8ae389ee298771dccfb5e68493a897f8d.jpg
