I am currently running sylvania silverstar ultras, but I hear they don't last long so I am looking for ideas on what to do when they burn out. I want to stay with halogen, can't afford to do the LED or HID conversion right now so what is the brightest and longest lasting halogen headlight I can buy? Let me see your setups!

The problem with almost all brighter halogens is the lifespan of the bulb.

Most of the standard dual filament bulbs made by sylvania are good for 1,000-1,200 hours. As soon as you go up to the silverstars most of them are in the 200-300 hour range

Just dropped a set of GE Nighthawk Extremes into the Tacoma, really happy with how much light they put out. I had the standard Nighthawk in my GMC and was happy with them. We'll see how long they last, but I got them on a crazy good deal on Amazon so I'm not out a lot if they don't go the distance.

I'm running the Slyvania XFE, or whatever. supposed to be the brightest, whitest light without having to convert to HID. I go them along with new headlights in November 2014. they are bright as hell and I haven't had a problem with them. They are a little pricey though, going for a tad more than the ultras but I believe they're a solid investment.

Just at night. I kept the original bulbs in the zxe package.
I think they were what? $65? If they don't last a year, I won't be buying them again.

He could have also maybe touched the bulbs which pretty much kills longevity.

yeah, i run them at night and when it rains. hopefully that makes them last longer. $65 sounds about right. maybe they'll last until I can go HID....

I've had C1ph3r LED headlights for almost a week now. I've been satisfied with them so far. Cost was right at $100 but completely worth it. Everything was plug and play.

Typically speaking LED emitters have crazy long life spans. Not certain about these though.

LED emitters do have very long life spans but the electronics that run them may not. The emitter will far outlast the electronics.

Just remember that ANY blue coating on the glass only blocks light output. The blue might make the light look "cool" but only hurts the output. I've tried a few of the popular lamps and have been happiest with the Osram Rallye 70/65w. They're a little over stock wattage but easily safe and put out very nice light. I'm at 2 years on my current set. I buy mine here http://store.candlepower.com/

Leveling kit, Rigid grill & 20" SR2 light bar, Rigid SRM2 diffused backup lights, Katzkin leather interior, Weathertech floormats, custom stereo integrated with factory headunit, N-Fab steps
looks to be the same ones I and many others have run. Good luck... I've had two sets die so far, one lasted for about 4 months, the replacements lasted maybe 3. The technology just isn't there yet, most people get less than a year before they die. Thank god lifetime LED has a lifetime warranty on them

Do those plug into the existing plug or do you have to change it?
