    Too many defensive penalties result in automatic first downs. Pass interference yes but all these others no! Give the yardage and replay the down that's it .

    Why? A 10 yard penalty is an automatic first down. It's the way it is, and always should be.

    1) there are no defensive 10 yard penAlties

    2) defensive holding and illegal contact are five yards with automatic first down

    3) defensive offsides is the only penalty not awarded a first down

    So if a team gets sacked for 8 yards on first down; 2nd down offensive holding; now it's 2nd and 28, next play defensive holding ... 5 yards and automatic first

    So why is holding on the offense 10 yards? I believe it's fair. 10 yards if the O does it, 5 yards and first down if the D does it.

    Illegal hits should be an auto first down. The WR is in the middle of a route, and not expecting to get hit unless he is blocking or if he is getting thrown to.

    Hands to the face is 10 yards for the O. 5 and auto first down for the D. Not sure how you can say it isn't fair?

    Illegal use of hands is 10 yards.

    Not sure which one you are calling unfair? To me, they are all fair.

    And? Your point? Do you want those 5/auto first to be the same as what the Offense gets? How would that be fair? You're at 3rd and 20. You hold the WR, they miss the catch because of the holding, so you now give them 3rd and 10? This isn't basketball where they have the chance to shoot 2 free throws. It is perfect the way it is. It eliminates it from being OK to cause a flag.
