What do you use the Thule for? Being that taking the RTT on and off on a regular basis is not very practical you should ask yourself how often you need your Thule for uses other than the RTT. Just assuming that you need it a lot, I would consider the 2nd rack ( or another cargo option) this way you still cargo option on top of the cab or cap without having the RTT in the way...

Where did you get that wind fairing Craig?? I meant to ask you that, looked in your build and didn't see if you said it.

Yakima and Thule offer them although, I'm not sure it really helps.

Yakima and Thule's are way to small to do anything with an RTT, his flairing is so big thats why im curious

The reason I said I'm not sure it does anything is I don't notice any difference in MPG with or without the tent mounted. Which implies the airflow is going (mostly) over the top of the tent.

Really? I noticed a drop of 1 but thats it. Yours and mine are way up past the cab, not like ones on a bed rack so if anyone saw a decrease it would be us.

Really. I was surprised too-I thought that a giant brick on the roof would have a profound impact. But the reality is, tire pressure makes more of a difference than the tent does-except for the height, I'd leave it on all the time ;)

Exactly, I think mine took off 1 because of the weight, yours weighs a lot less than mine haha

Mine dropped my mileage down by at least 2mpg and the truck is an aboslute pig in any sort of headwind.

No issue here other than the height. Same mpgs with or without the tent on the roof.

I have a similar set up. I added 2 extra crossbars on my shell to help distribute the weight. I have a Baja Rack up front for additional cargo but it has the side rails & couldn't be used to carry the RTT.

Just picked up my Kukenam Siberian Camo Tepui Tent. Now the big decision....mount it to my SnugTop SuperSport, or, sell that and get a BAMF bed/pack rack....life is hard. Hahaha

Depends, do you have a rack system on top of your canopy? If so I'd mount it there, if not then I'd get a bed rack. Or both :D
