Yea I don't remember how it's setup really..I know it's not totally ideal ha but adding another pulling up will make the head light pull down...which isn't what you want. You'll want it pulling the top of the head light down. Make sense?

Just got off the phone with Truck Lite tech support.

They explained the pros and cons of their LED headlamps in comparison to halogens in snowy/wintry/cold weather.

Their LED headlamps do get warm on the lenses. Not nearly as warm as halogens. But with the halogens if you're driving in wintry conditions, they melt the snow that hits the lamps which can lead to ice build up.

The LEDs won't get as hot and won't melt the snow per say, but it will keep the lenses clear.

The only time there will be an issue is if it's a wet heavy snow that is falling, at which point it doesn't matter if you have halogens or LEDs, there will be build up.

She said that a lot of people in CO are running their 7" round lamps with no issue.

She also said that due to the popular misnomer Truck Lite is building a heating element into their headlamps but the 5x7 ones won't be ready until next year sometime.

Yeah, but I can't mount a spring to the top tab of the housing and the grille (which is the ideal direction of the force).

I might try drilling a small hole in the housing and... yup, adding another zip tie

    Zip ties! Haha

And good info on the lamps. I'd still be down with them.

    Loving them.

Only had one snowstorm down here so far and they performed great.

    So far:

Dead quiet and smooth on dry pavement.
    Perfectly fine in torrential downpour.
Handled pretty moderate/easy off roading no problem. Even got up on some rocks unnecessarily and they were totally fine.
    Great on snow.

For the price, they're great for me and my needs.

Ugh, tell me about it. Ended up getting 50% off my black lug nuts because of it.

Discount Tire put so much fucking glossy gel on those tires when they mounted them up. Slung everywhere and I hate the glossy look. I didn't raise a stink, just said that no one asked if I wanted that on my tires then showed him all the gel that slung off.

Great manager at the Lafayette location.

FYI: the best tire shine I've used is the Wolfgang stuff I ordered off autogeek. It's a kit that comes with tire/wheel cleaner and tire shine. "Shine" is used lightly here because it's the perfect satin finish... just a deep black look as if they are brand new. Love the stuff.

Thanks man. I can't imagine living anywhere else. This summer was the "Great Divide" for me. Living in CO for the past 20 years. Prior to that I lived in NJ and VT for 20 years.

I had my daughter's bday party today. Outdoor ice skating followed by pizza. It was 57 degrees and we ended up eating and playing outdoors (the pizza parlor has a playground in front).

Crazy winter so far this year. Set cold and snow records in November. Heat and lack of snow in December. Long range forecast looks like winter is returning next week though:(

On the plus side, we've got over 8" of ice on the lakes. Been ice fishing for 3 weeks now.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Love your rig. The picture of it set up with the tarp/awning is great. I need to accomplish this somehow.

Also, those Rubbermaid totes FTW. That's all I use. Don't know if you have already but go buy 1/4" self-adhesive weather stripping and run it along the groove on the underside of the lid. Fully seals the tote. I ran them through a car wash with my topper off and it was bone dry inside.

Young Brett came over Friday and helped wire up my driver's seat power (for adjustment), add a Sound Ordnance 8" powered sub under the seat and cleaned up the power lead in the engine bay.

Parts that just arrived in the last three days:

    Cobra 75wxst CB
    Firestick coax cable 18'

    OTRATTW switches and blanks

Just waiting on skygear's fuse box and wiring harness to hook up my Blitzpro LED auxiliary lights in the front and rear and finally install my Paranoid Fab switch panel under the single DIN head unit. Which will also afford me the opportunity to reroute my USB in source to the lower center console cubby.

I'm still dialing it in but overall it's a great sub for an extra cab. Provided you go into it realizing it's not a 10" or 12" aimed for winning competitions.

Once I get Hurr Durr Fabrication front bumper I'll be inspired more.

btw - we used the amp distribution blocks (positive and ground) for the drivers side hook ups. You know, the ones that were 4" from the seat wires when we installed it.

Hmmm. Well, I may need to just save and go a little bigger. I had an 8" bazooka once, after my nice 12" setup got jacked, in an explorer and it was lackluster.there is a company that makes a single 10" enclosure for the dc behind back seat. Prolly gonna go that route but $$

Edit: do you mind showin some pics of the setup under seat? That is a big plus for the all in one units...

Edit x2: what do you have crossovers set at?
