I had a Kenwood double DIN in my 93 Supra, I couldn't get the dimming feature to work either.... Actually I think I still have a remote for it somewhere, it worked awesome though, had plugins for everything under the sun. I miss it

No problem. My 2015 has the same head unit and I've been fairly pleased with it thus far. No lag or lockups yet, and since its factory it integrates well in the dash.

Yeah, the plugins and options you had with those headunits were unreal. From everyone I've spoken to with one though, the dimmer function seems to be universally crap haha.

I do not buy retail for high end parts. That would be absolutely retarded. I bought new and unused pieces off of members right here at awesome discounts. Keep an eye out and you can get good deals, and save a fortune.

Your factory assembled Tacoma was probably put together in less than 8 hours. Your personally modded Tacoma takes a lot longer than that. I have a sister-in-law in the lower half of the continent as a drop point. She forwards parts to me, or I pick them up when I go down, or they are delivered when she comes up. Sometimes I just kack, and pay the shipping if it is a good deal. Most private parcels clear without problems or extra $$$. I shop, accumulate, assemble.

BTW, the LR UCA install brought the front up another inch. The OEM UCA's were holding the front down. The LR UCA's allow the front to ride true. Gonna need rear shocks before spring to accommodate the 1" blocks and Air Lift bags in the rear, and the subsequently added up and down-travel of the rear shocks, as I am gonna be doing some serious hauling... dump trailers full of wood, and a float with a small excavator. ( I'll need 0-2.5" lift shocks, more like 2 1/2 lift shocks; I'll investigate) I'm building a work truck, not a crawl truck.

Patience is the key. Rome wasn't built in a day.

    Git gittin' ...

Borla Catback Exhaust, Snorkel, 33s on either 16's or 18's, ARB Bumper, All Pro LT w/Walker Evan Shocks front and back, All Pro expedition leaf pack, 10,000lb Superwinch, Intake Manifold Spacer, Bed Rack with ARB RTT, Rotopack and Hi Lift mounted, Husky Liner mats and an air freshener from 1995.
^That. Only thing I bought new for my truck has been tires, Winch and IFS Skid.

Transmission Skid, E-locker skid, one set of tires, OME set up, Long Travel/Expo set up, Bed rack, bed sliding table, RTT, ARB...all second hand and half price pretty much.

Did you install the uca's yourself? If so how long did it take you?

Yes, did them with a buddy.

Took about 1 1/2 hours. 1 hour on the first side (passenger), and 20 minutes on the other (we had, by then, figured it out). Make sure that you buy a set of UCA bolts, as you have to cut the heads off the UCA bolts to feed them back in the opposite direction, so as to get them out. ($45)

On the drivers side, feed the bolt back to a point where you cut it short a second time so that you don't have to remove the brake line retainers so as to pry the lines back to provide clearance for the bolt (learned the hard way). You may still have to move the brake lines to slide the new bolt in.

Also installed the All Pro end links. Had to look that shit up on the FJ forum.

    Tools needed:

    - a shit load of wrenches and sockets
    - reciprocating saw and a good metal blade
    - jacks and jack stands
    - warm garage
    - beer
    - attitude

Took another 3 hours to drink the rest of the beer and rejoice!

If I had to do it again, it would be one beer and 45 minutes .... tops!

Cool. I am waiting on a couple of quotes from some suspension shops. I am having an OME lift installed with the LR UCA's. I'm already guessing that they will be really high. A buddy of mine is very mechanically inclined and has offered to help me do it. So I may go that route. If I had to do it myself I'd be f'd.

Are those end links necessary for the uca install? And are the UCA bolts you suggest stock or aftermarket?

Thanks for the info. I'm sure it will come in handy. Cheers.

(I edited my original post and fix some errors)

    1) - No, the end links are not necessary, but I tow heavy loads.
    2) - The bolts are stock Toyota parts. $20 each plus tax. A must have.
