    that's what i was looking at doing. I'm just looking at the costs and stuff for it. Montana is almost 1k for a combo tag non-resident :eek: i think colorado is a bit cheaper, just not sure the draw success rate.

    If you get yourself an elk, preferably a nice fat cow that was laying down when you shot her, you'll quickly become picky.

    Elk = awesome steak
    Deer = jerky and sausage and stuff

    if it works like that, i'll be more then happy. I do plan on cow tags though, so that might help my chances.

    Ya no problem. Josh is a great person to work with. If you don't make it up there before the reroute Josh told me I could come back and switch out my skid for the other one.

    I've been successful with OTC tags. Draw is going to be tough to get in the high populated areas for someone entering it the first year. Best advice I can give you is look online for the "trophy areas" and find the areas with OTC tags next to them.

    No OTC cow tags so you gotta get into the draw. (To my knowledge for non residents, get on the computer in July and see your luck.) I don't know the non resident rules because I'm a resident.

    I stand corrected I think you can still get cow or either sex as a non resident. Like I said I'd call and get better info from the state.

    i've been looking at the reg's for all three states, and I find the colorado ones the most confusing. Do they offer elk or deer OTC for non residents? From what I read the season is considerably shorter then montana's which would make the drive almost worth it. I was looking at 80-81 in colorado though. I did some fishing in Kerr Lake and it seemed like a good area.

    There are OTC tags available for out of state people in all GMU's expect like 36 fo of them for archery (the rifle reads weird to me Id call fish and game to be sure on rifle) which is a small amount. If have to look up and tell you which ones they are. Id also have to look up to see the area and topo of 80-81 as I've never hunted in that GMU. Which season you coming out?
