I actually like the interior quite a bit.

I'm in the same boat as a few others that posted. I bought a 2015 Taco 11 days ago and love it; stepped up from a 2000 ford Ranger 2WD. I am eager to see how the new engine and tranny do, and how the 3rd gen do in general after a few years.

I have a stepson that will need a vehicle in 5 1/2 years. Just in time to pass down this Taco and maybe upgrade???

It will most likely be more. But it SHOULD be equal or less. However, you can include that in your haggling measures. "Why should I pay you for this cover when I can buy my own for cheaper?"

Our F150s hard trifold is great too. I didn't consider that aspect of the name, thanks for the insight.

Other then waiting on the specs, Debating house vs. new truck but the house is winning though. I'll probably get a used 3rd gen after the house though.

    Electrical/interior: None. Tailgate, maybe.

Nick, (Never noticed your name there, nice to meet you) I think a house should come first too. That's the only reason I won't be in a 2016 within a couple years.

I agree, to an extent. I've seen a couple of people here who are adamant it's a great truck. But there are far more people here complaining about it and basically saying Toyota is lying when they say it's totally redesigned. And they are basing their opinions on pictures. My point is, why call Toyota liars? That to me is hating. Give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

If you don't like the new Tacoma, fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I don't think it's fair to say Toyota is lying about the new Tacoma just because someone doesn't like what they've done.

Let's not bitch about the truck, let's bitch about people who aren't instant fan boys of it instead.....funny. I like the tailgate.

Love the 2016. That's coming from someone who fell in love with the first gen. I have always wanted to get a Tacoma. The funding was never there, until now. Assuming I can hang on to this job, I am all in for a 2016.

My real question and concern is aftermarket part availability. Suspension and front end (grill) being the main two. Does anyone have an idea of how long aftermarket parts take to roll out for a new model? How can they begin designing and testing without an actual vehicle? Specs? Are they privy to information we are not?

Rodeho I think it would be a couple years before there's a plethora of options out. Maybe some things will be out within a few months, but I wouldn't want to buy the very first line. I'd wait a little bit to get the Tacoma if you want to mod it. I personally think it has so much personality I won't mod one for a long time when I buy. The 2nd Gen taco seems like it's asking to be modified where the 3rd Gen seems to have everything it needs to me. I wouldn't take that thing offroad anyway!

Has anyone here purchased a newly released vehicle before? Reason I ask is that I already know it's tough to haggle with salesmen on Tacomas because of the demand. When the 2016 is released are we screwed and looking at paying the sticker price? I imagine in the dealers mind they know the demand is going to be high right out of the gate.

I think Toyota did a pretty good job with the update. Was seriously considering a 4Runner but the interior of the '16 just put the Taco back on top. I'll see them both together at the NY Auto show. Going to be a hard choice.

Yes, you pay a higher price and also have to be a guinea pig to iron out the bugs in 1st model/platform years. And they usually add some cool stuff/changes in 2nd model year too.

This is not as bad (1st year problems) with a conservative company like Toyota, but still a concern of mine.

With all that said... I will probably make the jump to a 2016 .

Its already extremely difficult to negotiate any significant amount off any Toyotas, especially Tacomas which don't carry special APR's, rebates, etc. and Toyota sells every one of them. For one expect a price increase with new goodies on the 2016 and expect dealers to not negotiate cause there will be a demand. And as others have mentioned the following years always have things ironed out/tweaked for the better. Unless your in the market immediately I'd wait a year or two.

Relax guys. It's 2015 & we're talking about Toyota. The chances of them releasing anything with numerous small issues or any 1 serious issue on this rig is so small it's ridiculous.

I drive 2014 Corolla as a commuter, it's a 1st year "all new" type deal (including the 1st production CVT trans Toyota has fielded IIRC). Zero issues, nada.

I figure if one wanted to 'go conservative' waiting on a '16 buy for the 1st 3-4 months after sales start & not hearing of anything (bad traits, mech issues, etc) than I got to believe we're 'good-2-go'.

If you need or even want a new truck next year I don't see the value in waiting for another x-amount of years but hey, it's your $ so have it your way. ;)

Price, new year for a vehicle with a huge loyal buying/fan base. If you wait a year or two you'll get a better price than the first year, guarantee it. Not to mention there are always changes usually for the better, small but for the better in consecutive years.

I've thought about that. But honestly there's always something better around the corner. If you wait a few years for the refresh, a few years later another update, and then a few years later a new model, and so on.

Fair enough. But no doubt someone is more likely to pay less in 2017, 2018, etc. than someone chomping at the bit for the new 2016 that dealers know people are waiting for. But then again Toyota's don't come with huge markdowns either, but still could easily be a 1-3k savings if you wait after the initial rush.
