Installation instructions are on page 6!

Alright everyone, I have gotten a lot of requests for a hood scoop lightbar setup for the 12+ tacomas since I came out with the 05-11 kit. So I barrowed a friends 14 TRD sport over the weekend and got it done!

This kit takes quite a bit more time and a bit more skill to install compared to the 05-11 kit because of how the scoop is made on the newer models. The 12+ scoop is a one piece molded plastic design which means you have to carefully cut out an opening in the back of the scoop so the light can come through. However this kit will be cheaper than the 05-11 kit because the only light slim enough to fit is the AVEC ultra slim 12" which is about half the cost of a Rigid 10" single row (which is what the 05-11 kit is made for).

I was not able to complete the install 100% on my test vehicle because the owner did not actually want this mod done. So in the pics the fit and finish looks incomplete from the outside. The black plastic insert that clips into the outside of the scoop needs to be cut out for the light and clipped back in on each side, but I was not able to do this on my test vehicle because I needed to make it look like it had not been modified when I was done.

Anyways, that is a minor detail and its easy to complete that part on your own. Otherwise this install is complete and ready to go.

I have ALOT of pictures to share for the install but I will not do that right away. So here are the basic pics of the install for now. Once I get enough requests and have some buyers setup for this kit I will post all the install pics.

Price for this kit will be 195.00 plus shipping for a black satin powdercoated bracket with all hardware and the AVEC 12" ultra slim lightbar with complete wiring harness. If I can get enough dedicated buyers, I would like to do a TW group buy.

No funds to throw at truck now, but I'm certainly in when I get back to normal on this end. Always wanted to do something with the fake sceewp.

Sounds good man! might as well do something else with the scoop if it doesn't actually scoop air:D

This exactly why I love this light idea. I can't stand faux anything on my cars/trucks.

Damn. This is bad ass. As far as driving in heavy rain, how much gap is there between the light and scoop? Will it shovel water into the engine bay or does it pretty much seal it up?

I've had something similar in my scoop for over a year now and I haven't noticed an excess amount of water entering the engine bay from the scoop. In fact, I remember reading something about the way the scoop and hood are contoured contributing to air flowing over instead of into the scoop. I think I get more water blowing up off of the road into the engine bay.

the light does not seal it up, but it does fit tight and take up basically all of the opening. I have been running this setup on my 05 for a year now and never had any issues with water in the engine bay. what does make it into the engine bay is very minimal and evaporates quickly from the heat.
