That deep, I have $100 that says it will never run the same again. ECU is on the floor and that's if he didn't hydrolock when he went in. That looks like it was an 'oh shit' moment if I ever say one.

That's an old ass picture. I've seen it before lol.

I'm actually in the thinking process of trading in my 4Runner for a second gen Tacoma 6 speed. Only reasons I'm hesitant to do so are my mods. I love my bumper, I love the lift I've got, I love all the stuff that won't transfer over... I doubt my bumper could be reworked to fit the Tacoma, and that's a damn shame, I love that thing.

What I don't love about the 4R: no large open cargo space. All my tools and parts make the inside of the cargo area filthy. My frame. And ground clearance.

Maybe I'll take a look at FJs too and see if I can't make the bumper work.

FJ is smaller than the 4Runner so, on top of things being messy, wouldn't be worse because there's even less room?

We still on to get that couch this week?

    Fuck.
So goddamn tired of losing birds to my neighbor's pets. Came home tonight to another missing chicken and a pile of feathers surrounded by dog tracks in my driveway. I wouldn't mind it so much if I was losing them to predation by wild animals, as that's a risk I take living in the country. But the fact that I'm repeatedly losing birds because somebody else is too lazy or careless to keep their dog on their own damn property is incredibly frustrating.
Tomorrow I'm printing off copies of the state laws regarding dogs running loose and dogs terrorizing livestock and leaving them in the mailboxes of everyone on my road. And God help the next dog I find running loose in my dooryard...

Does your town have a dog catcher?

My dad was having issues with the neighborhood dogs so he started carrying a paintball gun on his tractor while doing yardwork. Told the neighbors if they find their dogs painted, the next time it'll be a lead pill. (I should clarify though, our neighbor had a mean dog, it bit me once as a little kid and the owner didn't get the hint that it was serious)

It does, but he does it part time and he covers the entire county so he can't exactly get here in a timely manner. I've already had him call several of my neighbors because I've caught their dogs in my yard, followed them home, and gotten the "he's really friendly, I'm sure he's just curious" talk from them. They've promised to keep the dog on their property, and then I catch the dog in my yard again. That's when I have him call them up or pay them a visit.
But I've lost 4 birds in 4 different attacks in the last six months, plus ended up with a couple of walking wounded, and I'm really losing my patience with the whole thing.

A little late to the party, but OMG was it hot in the convention center (I ended up going Saturday as well).

I spent most of my time there comparing cars for what's going to be the family hauler sooner rather than later. I figure I've still got a year or two before I need to think about it really in depth, but ugh.

I went from looking for what had the most power, the most gears in the transmission and the fastest 0-60 to does it have heated mirrors, Bluetooth and will I bash my skull loading stuff into the back.

    I figure it's down to:

    - Honda CR-V EX (the leader right now, the 2015 restyle makes it less awful)
    - Honda Accord EX 4cyl (my personal favorite, got a soft spot for the Accord since my first car was a reasonable well modified one, although a sedan doesn't make sense)
    - Toyota RAV4 XLE (meh, but worth driving when the time comes)
    - Toyota Camry SE (same deal as the RAV)
    - Mazda CX-5 (basically a Miata SUV, but maybe a bit small on the inside)
    - Subaru Forrester 2.5i Premium (meh, but worth a drive, cheapest of the lot)

I know it's probably a bit early even going down this road as I have no plans to baby-up in the next year or so, but I like being prepared for all this stuff way ahead of time.

I'm going to despise the CVT, but there's so few real automagics in these CUV things these days.

If I win the lottery I'm going Audi S3 until the warranty expires at least. I sat in one and it was so reminiscent of the B5 A4 I used to borrow from my friend's father in HS.

I'm going to go cry in the corner now that I've officially talked about a "family" car.

On a side note, no one here happens to own a Z32 (89-96) era 300zx TT T-Top, do they? I'm half considering selling the STi and picking one up as an even less practical summer toy. I found one in RI that looks highly original, and if it is still for sale in late spring, I might have to go check it out. I figure if I were to do it, I'd end up with some extra cash to have in case something goes wrong with the Z, maybe change up the catback to a Borla, have some cash for the Tacoma, and maybe try to sneak a few other toys past the (now) wife.

Morning all. Mike I hate to say it but with kids (imo) the minivan is the way to go. You will be surprised how much stuff you have to bring with you on a vaca or a trip out of state for holidays. Nevermind when you start dragging their friends out with them

Glad I'm not the only one who thought they were overheating the convention center, then. By the time we left I had stripped down to just a t-shirt and I was still sweating.
The GF's parents have a CR-V, but it's a '14. Nice little SUV, I think they manage just under 30 mpg's in mixed driving. Low interior noise, too. At highway speeds you can talk to the people in the back without having to raise your voice, which is nice.

I had a chance to sit in the new GMC Canyon at the show; I was impressed with the interior fit & finish, but not particularly with the gauge layout. Nice interior fabrics and plastics. The buttons and switches all had a nice solid 'clicky' feel to them (unlike GM's I've ridden in/borrowed in the past) and the wheel was nice and fat but not overly so. Plus when I shut the door it was super quiet inside; no noise bleeding through from the convention center. Definitely didn't fall in love, though. I hopped onto the rear bumper and the ass of that truck must have settled 3 inches, and I'm not a big dude (160-ish?). Plus that truck's even more of a chin-dragger in person (pro is that it looks like that air dam is an easy removal). But I'm sure that lots of companies are going to be coming out with leveling kits in short order for those trucks. Bed sounded tinny when I tapped on it, but that might just be because I'm used to poly beds or beds with liners.
Also got to sit in one of the new Silverado's, and it turns out that the steering wheel I thought looked offset from the driver actually IS! It's not extreme, but it's definitely off-center and set at an angle. I'm sure there's structural reasons for it and that it's not just because of that massive slab of plastic where they put the headlight switch, but I did not like it.

I also may have sat in a Scion FR-S and a Lexus RC F and fallen just a little bit in love...
    Especially that Lexus. 467hp @ 7,100 RPM from a 5.0L V8
