They beat up on Torres years ago for his late hit on Hossa. They should have given Carcillo at least the same.

 

It wasn't the playoffs this time on a team critical player.... I agree though, the NHL is really silly when it comes to suspensions and calls on the ice. This should of been called a Match penalty right on the ice and it wasn't, yet last year every tiny little bit of head contact was called a Match. What a joke.

It's a deep draft, let's see what Shanny does with the players for the rest of the season in terms of moves and what the summer can bring. It won't be easy but losing our shit for the umpteenth time is why there's so little respect for TO .

It's not like this team was ever going to finish better than 7th in the East anyways.

 

You think Nonis is out before the draft? I don't think it matters who is in the GM chair since there's a group of guys making management decisions (Shanny, Dubas and others?)
I'm curious to see who they move this summer. If the new GM can somehow move Clarkson and maybe retain some salary, home run. It'll be a start at least.

 

I think if Nonnis is willing to simply be Shannahans mouthpiece and there isn't anyone better around that the group wants then Nonnis is safe in his position. That being said his name is on the big fat contracts that are handcuffing the Leafs right now so who knows.

Clarkson isn't the source of this teams problems. They should start by moving out one or two of the big pieces for draft picks and see if they can take other teams short term problems off there hands. The only untouchables on TO to me are Morgan Reilly, Jonathan Bernier, James Van Riemsdyk, and Cody Franson (need to sign that last one soon too). I wouldn't necessarily trade Clarkson since his value to the team is better than the hurt of paying him to play for someone else would be. Everyone else can be moved if decent market value is available. Especially Bozak and Kessel as part of a package. I like what both of them bring but there's always a time to part ways if the return is right.

Anyways I'm not a GM or great hockey mind. I just call minor league games from time to time. All I can hope for is a good return from this clearly failing core.
