    Hey. How did you strip the insulation inline? Knife?
    I've always just cut the wire then twisted together soldered and stuck in a connection

    I use my Klein Auto Wire strippers to 'span' the wire, then a razor to remove the pieces.

    On your method. If you have the proper crimpers and they are used in an appropriate manner. The Soldering is an unnecessary measure. In an application like AV, maybe. On these 12v systems, completely unnecessary.

    I offer the soldering of the connectors if people insist on it. But it does get costly. $0.50-$1.00 additional per connection unless some flat rate is agreed on.

    With this picture above, you can gauge the depth of the overall switch and back.

    With the switch only, you have about a 1.5" area you need for mounting.

    The back only adds .5". The housing is 1" overall length. For a total of 2" for the back and switch


    I do not have one of the switch plates. Might have to contact iggy to get one for measurements.

    Serious question for everyone.

    If it came down to getting the harness through the firewall easier (current setup) or cutting a hole and trying to fit a connector through it, what would you rather have?

    The current method uses the Nipple under the main harness and you simply cut it off and pull the harness through that hole.

    If I was to put a harness with a connector on an end or both ends, you would then need to use a knife and cut the rubber grommet wide enough to fit the connector through it.

    Trying to make decisions here that benefit us all, yet still as user-friendly as possible.

    Everyone chime in and discuss.

    I don't think cutting a hole big enough for a harness is needed. Seems like more work IMO. Unless they pulled the wires through and then connected the harness

    I've crammed some pretty large things through that firewall (yea yea yea), over time the hole has gotten a bit bigger and bigger as I constantly ran wire through it. Last time I shoved 4 14 gauge wires taped together through the firewall, zero issues. Some people are a little afraid of cramming things through there. I'd prefer to run all my wiring once through there and then silicone up on the engine bay side.
