I've had these subs for about 6 months now, running in a 2cu.ft. sealed enclosure behind the seats of my double cab. I'm running both subs, D4 ohm, in a 4 ohm setup off of an Alpine PDX-M12 amp under the passenger seat of my truck.

I've played a lot of different music on them, from Dubstep to Metal, and these subs are versatile. They can keep up with the lowest notes of dubstep, and the double kick drum of metal. I finally have the right alternator to keep up with the amp, which has a 100A draw, and it delivers all of what the birth sheet says of 1248w. These subs take it, and ask for more.

They are clear and musical as well. I have the past memory of both the Alpine Type R 10", and the JL W3V3 dual 10", as well as Sundown Audio SD-2 10" subs to go by. These are equal in every way, with more output than the others easily. That may be the 10" to 12" factor, but I believe it has more to do with the quality of the subs. They perform to more than my satisfaction on everything. I'm recently listening to the new Foo Fighters "Sonic Highways" album, and the bass guitar and kick drum are played with plenty of authority. I love the sound they put out, and they are way less than any of the other subs that I have owned. I don't think I can ever kill them, they just seem to beg for more. I love that fact. They just keep going, no matter what I'm in the mood for.

    I highly recommend these subs.

    Thanks for the review,
I can't wait till the 8s come in.

The 8s are gonna be a perfect fit for the Tacoma's and would be great for sealed and ported applications. The dc can fit 4x 8s sealed or 2 8s ported tuned 33hz via 4 inch flared port.

The 12s are a little more tricky to fit but with a little work its not bad.

sounds good. I will check pricing in the morning.

my 95 stang has a 130 A alternator and I run an optima battery. 2 gauge wire with a fuse under the hood. I will run 10's because of available trunk space, 2 10s.

I see only 12s and 15s in the one you are talking about. I need to look for 10s. Also , best places to get them from?

Yes, we currently don't have any 10s landed in the USa but they are on their way.

2 12s sealed work well with a custom box and some wood working skills.

How much space do you have in the mustang ?

i'm not sure of the overall trunk cubic feet to be honest. I do know that the current box is 26 x 11.5 x 12. It is a sealed box. If I were to have a new box built, since I don't really have time to do one myself, I can go 31 x 11.5 x 12-14 deep at most and I'm giving the extra inches if need it on the depth as the 11.5 and 31 are pretty much max I can go.

the trunk is not huge at all and others have advised me that 10s would definitely work better in that space.

How far away are the 10s on arrival and available for sale?

Richard is running his 12s in about 2cubic feet of space, which by your parameters you have.
This is perfect sealed, which is what you like.

Im awaiting more info on the Eta of the 10s.

yeah but the height of the box has to be 11.5 at most and that won't work for a 12 right :)

could angle the front and get the height needed but I won't like the look of that. Only other way is to take out the factory mach 460 box and that would give me more height. Not so sure though I might just stick with 10s

also if you look at the images , that mach box would provide a nice tight seal as the 11.5 height is snug against it and just enough height to be able to slide the box forward manually and going 31 inches would provide a nice tight seal for turning the subs facing the inside of the car vs the trunk like I've always done. So that factory box would aid in all of that

It's alot harder to build a ported box for two 8s then you think. I have two jlw7 8 in a ported box had to make them side fire with 4 inch aero port. But if you have the skill to do it I sounds amazing. Haven't heard a tacoma louder then mine yet.

Ported done right sounds amazing and yes you gain the additional output over sealed.
I'll research the mustang and see what people do but by what you are indicating in hight dimention would be the limiting factor. Allot of people with trunk setups forward Fire their subs ported and do really good not only SPL but sq as well. They do however seal the trunk off from the cab. I'll try find a few picture to illustrate this.

I had to build a box for a guy w a cobalt sS with one dd9515 on 2kw forward fire ported exactly as described above and it was pleasantly loud. Was the worst box
I had to build as I had to build it in the car and was rather u pleasant
