Little scare on the ISS I guess. Ammonia detectors screamed fourth and sent the folks into chemical hoods and respirators, then into the russian side for a seal in. Mission control took a look and called back later with a false alarm and all clear,,for now. yikes!

The question is,,who drew the short straw for the sniff test? The newbie?.

General consensus was not enough onboard hydraulic fluid,,so control was lost. Was said that they had it nailed till the last 1500 ft, it looked perfect.

Old news,,but still looking good. Mag bottle technology from one of my old fiction reads. He must have read the same set of books.

 

The universe is so big, when you are looking at a star, that star could have burnt out tens of thousands of years ago, but the light is only just reaching earth. Imagine the distances involved? This is one of my supporting details when people argue with me about life existing elsewhere. With that much universe out there, I think it would be more disturbing if we were alone. That would be the equivalent of a single grain of sand on the whole earth, or maybe even more extreme than that. I also have a hard time finding people that have enough brain power to have a conversation like this, so I turn to TW.

they're slowing the speed of photons in/after a medium. Close to absolute zero, they've even stopped/contained light in a crystal now


but slowing down is not the same as speeding up. If something were to move faster than light, our entire physical theories of the universe/relativity would be shattered


that's why CERN had to check and recheck and recheck their readings when they found that a particle moved faster than light-

and found a loose wire gave millions of scientists anxiety. lol
