Yes I have a backup but is about 6 months old so I would rather not have to use it to restore since it is so old.

I have update the iTunes but it still doesn't want to work.

I was able to update my iPad so it is not the cable.

Ok, I have a 5S. The fucking thing wont ping when a text comes in and it wont ring when a call comes in.
The only time it does ring is if I am active on it, such as playing music when it is plugged in in my truck. Anyone know what this is about?

And yes, the silent switch is in the correct position.

If you move the silent switch back and forth, does it show the speaker icon on the screen?

I have a 6+ on Verizon now and love it. Had to get a second cell phone and tried an Android (Samsung S-4) on StraightTalk.

The Samsung is a great phone, but after using iPhones for a long time, it was like learning Chinese  to do the Android system.

I have to say that StraightTalk (really AT&T here) is awesome (better than Verizon in many areas) and I stayed with StraightTalk on 2nd line and got another iPhone to keep from going crazy and keeps everything the same (especially when syncing all the info & etc).

The weird part is that I went away from AT&T to Verizon for better service 5 years ago and my new StraightTalk 2nd cell (on At&T) seems as good, if not better than Verizon now. Go figure ...

I know that Androids can do more, but iPhones are a lot easier for me to use.

PS ... What a deal the iPhone is on StraightTalk .... Unlimited talk, texts, and 3 GBs of high speed 4LTE with unlimited lower speed @ $43.98/mo. (total) IF billed directly to your credit card. Customer service is decent and fast too.

I am assuming you mean the light grey deal in the middle of the screen that disappears after a second.

Why do I have to keep sign out and sign back in to get the home sharing to work in iTunes for the Apple TV to pick it up?

Yep. If that shows when you switch silent on/off you know at least the OS sees that happening. If normal sounds work, I'd bet software glitch. I'd back phone up to iCloud and reset/restore.

My 5s is doing that, but only when a certian contacts texts me, it's really annoying.
It randomly will work for me though.

There seems to be a few threads about it on Apple Support

Yeah could be the notifications , but then again he did say that he hears it when he's playing music or doing other things.

Could be that he needs to run the iOS again . Could just be aglitch from the software.

Try this first, Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You'll probably lose ringtone settings and things like that, but it won't delete anything. If that don't work then I think a backup and complete erase might be necessary.

    Thanks bud.

Last year I bought a macbook off CL (late 2012) - totally legit with receipt and apple care, but now it's asking me to install some updates, and requiring me to enter in the password for the previous guy's apple ID. I don't have an option to change the apple ID to my own.

When I first got the laptop, I did a hard reset, entered all my info (apple ID etc). So now I'm wondering why the previous guy's apple ID is popping up when I try to install an update. Also - it's been doing this for a while, and I keep saying "Later" so that the pop up box goes away

If he had downloaded an application from the app store with his Apple ID it will require his ID to update. If the app is free, just trash the program and download it again with your apple ID. iWork and iLife applications work a little differently as they register to the original person who set the computer up.
