That rack looks incredible! I've been really tempted to get one of those. How was the whole drilling the cab process?

going to swap out my rock lights, but not much else planned... maybe heated mirrors if I get motivated..last couple ice storms got the wheel turning on that haha

it's a good project..not too hard but not something you want to just bust through..

once I figured out where I wanted it to line up, it wasn't too bad..

measure, mark, double check... used a step bit then finished with a 3/8" bit..rtv sealant around the hole, install plusnuts... took some extra time to modify the molding to fit around the mounts, then bolted it on..

i'll have a full write up down the line...

but curious to see if it'll help with kicking some air over the RTT...

been waiting to get one for a while, but with limited options I was hesitant... but I'm very pleased with the prinsu and glad to have the new addition.. great option for us access cabs

That rack is awesome I will say that. Quality product and I love the design. Personally I can't justify it yet. :)

Hey man, I've been lurking your build for quite some time. I love everything you've done so far. Your truck is fucking badass. I also have the access cab rack from Zach and it's just standing by till I have time to install it. I'm looking forward to the install pics and any tips that may help with the install.

thanks man...it's really coming together nicely and a blast to take on adventures...

a few tips for now to get you started...

i laid everything out the night before and put it all together so i could see how everything went together...it also allowed me to setup my mounting holes for the light bar..

with everything laid out, go through the rest of the process so you have a solid game plan for installation...

    pre-installation:
assemble the rack for mock up...i attached firmly the deflector, the back cross bar and a couple others in the middle where they weren't in the way of the mounting holes...you want the rack rigid when you have it on the roof for mock up...

as far as placement is concerned:
Zach recommends 8" back from the windshield as a starting point. where my rack was lining up for my preferred placement, there were two indents in the molding channel that i used as a starting point at the back most mounting hole...it's maybe 4" forward from where the molding has a joint coming from the back window area...
but i drilled out those two indents as my back most holes...put the plusnuts in then bolted the rack on using those two mounts...this gave me the location of the other 10 holes..

    installation of plusnuts:
mark the location of the holes..use a punch to help keep the drill bit in place...i used a step bit to get close to my holes size and finished off with a 3/8" bit
put ample rtv sealant around the outside of the hole then insert the plus nut...
using Zach's provided tool, secure the plusnut

    modifying the molding:
if i were to do it again, i might mark the molding as one piece...
but how i cut the molding was...the width of each mounting platform, i cut the molding..this gave me 3 smaller molding pieces on each side with larger sections in between...
i marked on the smaller sections where the mounting holes were then took a dremel to cut out a square/rectangle big enough to fit the spacer in over the hole..
there is a metal strip running the length of the molding at the bottom, so you will not be able to just cut with a knife...
when the areas are removed for the mounting holes, use black silicone along the sides and bottom of the molding mounting surface...put some silicone around the outside of the mounting hole where the spacer will sit...
with the molding back on, put silicone around the outside of the spacer to fill the gap between the spacer and the molding...

    rack install:
with the plusnuts in, the molding cut up and reinstalled and the spacers in the sealed...lay the rack in place
i used a thread compound on the bolts prior to tightening everything down to create even more seal throughout the setup
    then tighten everything down

sit back and enjoy a cold one

Right on man! Thanks for that! It'll go on soon enough but I now have a better game plan for installing. It's been sitting in the garage assembled after I got it back from powder coating. My main concern was keeping water out but lots of RTV should do the trick. Thanks again.

yea that's definitely a main concern...

just gotta do your best to protect the possible areas that would leak...

the plusnut...so make sure the seal the plusnut makes on the sheetmetal has proper sealant..

the bolt...either silicone or thread compound on the threads to help seal that area..

then to help keep water from even getting to that point...proper sealant around the spacers and molding...

^^So if I am reading that right there are now 18 tubes of silicone in your roof. Should help with sound proofing too. : P
