Lighting issue

Last night I noticed my headlight was out, so I replaced the bulb and it fixed it. This morning I noticed it wasn't just the headlight. all of my HVAC control's, 4x4 selector, fog light/diff lock, and blinkers are not illuminating when the headlights are on. The blinkers work as turn signals, they are just not working as parking lights.

I figure there has to be something in common between these items, because it's a little too big of a coincidence for all of these things to go at once. I checked the under hood fuse box and everything lighting related looked good. I have not checked under the dash yet.

I have no done any sort of modifications or off roading in a couple months also.

Hopefully someone can shine some light on this situation

Sounds like the taillight fuse inside under your dash.

 

That's what I was thinking ... wasn't sure it covers ALL of that though.

I had a short in a trailer harness once that would blow that fuse regularly until I figured out what was happening. Knew when it had blown when the HVAC control lights went out.

 

Both great ideas! I head it's illegal to discuss solutions to the the core problem that Icepuck brought up so I will investigate the under dash fuse box today and see what I come up with. Thanks for the idea.

 

Yeah it covers all of those as they all run on the dimming circuit.

No problem. Glad it was that simple. some of the circuits that are tied together in these trucks make no sense for sure.

 

I have the same problem with my HVAC controls..i just checked the tail light 10 fuse under dash and it looks good.

 

It could be blown bulb in AC cluster. Do you know if your getting power to AC cluster?

 

I have not checked power yet. But that is my next step..tnx for the direction.
