I was going to do a setup like that in my shell. As for the hood, I sell the hood kits with the optional pressure switch. I think my next mod after I finish the grill and headlights with be hood struts

I can tell you this. I like having the hood struts. Didn't want to pay for them. Getting a discount was the only thing that helped the decision.

If I had found the information on what pound each hood strut was, I think I would have gone that route. Definitely makes working under the hood a lot easier.

No clue. There's no info to be found on them. No numbers on the struts either.

Ok finally got it installed and wired. I put the switch on the passenger side right next to the outlet. Added a waterproof switch for extra piece of mind.

Had some really small braided loom that wouldn't fit over the LED strip so I tried to desolder, put the braided loom on, and resolder. Didn't go as smoothly as I expected haha

Yup. No flaw in the product, just customer ignorance. You live and you learn, right?

That's what I've always been told. So is it you just couldn't resolder the wires back to the strip?

I couldn't get it right. The joint was really weak. I cut the strip back and tried again with the same result so I just decided I'd get a new set, some bigger braid and do it right.

I got a 60watt soldering iron that's great for soldering wires but I think it gets too hot to solder to copper pads like that. It started melting the plastic when I tried to make the connection
