Need aftermarket block heater for V6 4L Tacoma

    Hi, I have a 2006 Tacoma V6 4L Double Cab. I am heading up north and need a block heater installed. Toyota doesn't make the part anymore. Can someone tell me what aftermarket part I should order. I am in the Greater Toronto Area. Thank you! Lawrence 72

    Are you saying a Toyota dealer can't install a block heater for you in TO for a 2006?
    I thought all Canadian vehicles just came with them.

    I used this on my 5.0L, worked great for the 10 years and 215,000 miles I owned the truck. It's very simple. It just heats the oil pan itself. If this induces moisture I don't know but I had success w it.

    i say BS to that.Your in toronto go to another dealer.They were just too lazy to order you one.

    I grew up a few miles from the Candian border and always used the circulating coolant haters. Seemed to keep the oil warm enough and helped keep the windhield free of ice. Dont know how well one would work on a vehicle made after 1969 though.

    I'm not sure you really need a block heater. I was in Alaska for 3 yrs and prior to going I had one installed in my car's engine (it was a V6 also) but never really needed it. I DID get a battery "warmer" (it wraps around your battery and plugs in) and that worked great.

    The nice thing about the block heater is that your oil warms faster upon startup. Cold oil going into a warm block...

    The part you need is still made. Check other sources. Install is pretty easy, there are a couple helpful threads on this.

    Do you need it? No. It does make cold starts easier on your engine, battery and starter. You decide.
