I'm pretty sure Chris can read. I'm pretty sure he also knows a joke when he sees one . Plus the word was directed towards an audience, not a person.

The thread ends when we all stop talking about the topic and start talking about this shenanigan. I'm all ears.

I think everyone left for the new 2016 pictures :D.

I wonder what would happen if we debated something that mattered more, like the weather?

Suggested policy update ... no politics, religion, or ABS.

    So back to the thread.
I would rather use my driving abilities than rely on ABS.
I have used ABS & disabled on all road & off-road surfaces in all conditions. and I can tell you that Non-ABS is safer & stops in shorter distances.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Well apparently its either deal with ABS or buy 2016 Tacoma with crappy engine out of the Highlander.
Well time to relocate ABS fuse for easy removal :D

    Here's one from 2009:
george3 says, "Last winter I pulled into my driveway full of snow. No problem I have a Taco with 4 wheel drive, wrong. Problem, put on the brakes and almost went into the garage door thanks to ABS. I have a 2000 SR5 stick. B 4 I go poke'n and hope'n, will this mod work 4 me?"

    From Black Rock Taco:
"Here's another old timer (Pre ABS, almost 48) that agrees ABS is a BAD idea in SOME situations. For most daily driving, it's wonderful. I'm positive it's saved a lot of trashed vehicles and lives.
In a severely limited to no traction situation it can be disaster. In these situations the driver needs to be in control, and know that their vehicle will do what he asks. The driver is still likely to end up in a ditch, but should still (with experience and skill) determine to some degree where and when that will happen. With ABS, well it's just one more thing to fight at the wrong time."

    Fortech:
"I live on a very steep, narrow hill and several times during the winter months find myself having to engage my locker to disable the ABS.
SOMETIMES there are situations where ABS increases the risk of an accident rather than decreasing it - especially on very loose surfaces."

    Those are just a few.

I don't mind it oddly enough if im just driving on a normal day.... but that being said i feel the post i hit last year was due to the ABS. I was going 10km/h and it caused me to spin in away where i had no control and hit it.... i was doing well and close to dodging it until the ABS kicked in... 10k later... Sigghhhhh

This is my experience as well, because I can actually drive. I learned young, in the snow, on hills, etc. I did autocross, 4WD stuff, and just lots of twisty miles over the 45+ years since I started out in a home made go-kart.

For 90% of the . . . ummm . . . "drivers" out there, ABS will be better overall.

But, to a good driver, it's like taking away the clutch and letting a computer shift the gears. FAR inferior performance in any close situation.

To a typical "driver", well giving the general public automatic transmissions likely saves them millions of accidents a year. Think of it.
