I know crazy right... If I could do it all over again I would have tried harder to by a baja back in 2014 and 2 I would wished they didn't totaled my TX pro and have just done Billy's. I met a local guy with a TX pro and all he did was one size bigger tires and kept everything stock. It might just be me, but there is something that appeals to me of that nice stock look. Thanks for following my thread and your feedback. I'll post some pictures of the new soon and tell me what you think!

It's true, I do like a stock look. Mine is mostly stock looking and that's what I like about it. If they made a TRD Pro in a LB it would be hard not to buy it!
I'm assuming that 265/70/16 come on the Pro? Are you going to put 265/75/16?

Yeah your truck looks very nice. It's a nice clean build. Have looked at the new Bilstein 6112 series? It's basically the baja/pro suspension. If I didn't find a pro I was going to swap my set up for those with TRD beadlocks.

Well a bit of false advertising on regards to tire size for the Pro from Toyota. The initial pictures and specs on the Pro showed 265-75-16, but they ended up going with 265-70-16. I would like to go to 265-75-16 KO2s but I'll just wait until I need tires.

Yeah, that's the size that should have come on it in the first place.
I'm looking into a tuneable setup. As soon as funds allow I'm going to pull the trigger. Id like to wait for the OME BP-51 and that's proabbly a more realistic timeline for me as well.

Those are sick! pretty heavy price tag tho. Keep me updated you build.

Also, what do you have going on in your bed? I think I see a rack on your pictures. I just sold the tonneau cover I had in mine and I'm looking for other options for the new one on regards to securing cargo yet being able to utilize my bed.

I have a thule cargo box. Keeps my skis secure. That way I don't have to throw them in and out of the cab. I'm looking for a cap though. Been waiting for a good deal on CL

UrbanWarrior, I love the new Pro's! Just saw one at the Detroit Autoshow for the first time in person, and really wish they were available last year before I got mine. I have the Pro suspension kit on back order with Toyota now, wanting to do a Pro-copy build on my 4-banger :) the combination of the sport body, with the locker, and taller suspension, satoshi style grille is the perfect setup in my opinion. I think I am going to get the black Tacoma badges for the doors, and end up making a satoshi grille myself (already got the LC emblem.).

Then the last thing I will need is a sport hood with the scoop and a rear-locker, and she will be perfect for me. I am right with you on the OEM modifications. That's why I am paying and waiting for the Pro setup. From what I've read the Pro is sprung softer and valves softer than the Baja suspension, so that's why I am waiting for it. Also didn't want to worry about messing with aftermarket parts and the issues that can arise when you open that can of worms with a new vehicle.

Forgot to ask, how is the ride? Have you ever ridden in a Baja for comparison?

Hey bud, Thanks I am really happy with it. Sounds like you have a good plan and it is going to look sweet. Gotta let me know when you get your truck all done. Have you checked TRDShop.com. They sell all the Pro stuff and most of it is stock.

I really like the ride. It was better than my stock TRD O/R and a bit softer than my Icon set up on my previous tacoma. I have never driven a Baja so can't compare. In overall it rides great on and off road.

Also if you can't find the black tacoma emblems, at least for a reasonable price, you can consider plastidip. Few members on here have done it and looks good. I would check eBay or TRDParts4U they have the black TRD OEM emblem for $39. Anyways keep me updated on your build...

So I got my Undercover SE tonneau cover today. 1st off I have never dealt with freight shipping and it is a nightmare, but that aside here is my review!

I have tried the tri-fold covers (Undercover Flex) and the retractable covers (RollBak). I wanted to secure my bed without using the utility of my bed. With both these covers I had that, but I had issues with installation and getting it too fit properly. It seemed that I had to modified them to make them fit and even then they did not fit perfectly. I figured after paying top dollar for both of these they would go on without any issues. Two, I wasn't too stoked having to drill holes in my new truck for the drain tubes.

So when I got my new truck I set out to find a new tonneau cover. I've had a camper shell as well in the past and did not like it. Lost most utility out of my bed and didn't like the look go my truck with it. My buddy has had an Undercover classic for over 4 years and has never had issues. Over the years I have been around his truck with said cover and really liked it. So I decided to look at Undercover again.

So I decided to go with Undercover's new version of the classic the Undercover SE. It's a hard tonneau cover. I know I lose the ability to use my full bed, but there are some trade offs.

    1. Perfect fitment out of the box. No rails to adjust or cut to make them fit. The claps go directly on the rail system without having to modifying them. You can also still use the rail system with the cover on such as the bed cleats or other rail system accessories.

    2. It is 99% waterproof.

    3. It is a lockable cover. I know there is others that state they are lockable, but without a locking tailgate they are not. This cover actually locks itself and the tailgate making it 100% secure out of the box. No need to purchase a pop and lock or other type of tailgate lock.

    4. You have full access to the bed without having to open the tailgate. I can just unlock and have access to everything in my bed. The other two required you to open your tailgate to open the cover. It's just more convent for me.

    5. Although its not retractable nor a trifold It can be removed in minutes and have full access to your bed. As oppose to the retractable, although retractable the canister took a good amount of space in the bed and don't dare take it off because it would be very difficult to do so and to put it back on.

    Now to the review:

-Price was great. Cheaper than all options I have listed and in my opinion you get more for your money such as a secured tailgate.

-Finish and fitment are great. Material looks tough and the quality is great. It fit on my truck perfectly without having to modified anything. I got the black textured finish, but you can get the smooth paintable one get it color matched to your truck.

-The locking mechanism is great. It truly does secure the tailgate. With it closed you can not open the tailgate. It has the ability to be closed without being locked for easy open/close access.

-Comes with a small battery operated LED light. I was surprised how bright this light was. In my pitch black garage it illuminated the whole bed.

-It is easy to remove the cover and put it back on as advertise, it can be done in minutes, but definitely need two people. It also comes with two hooks to put your wall so that you an hang it while not in use.

-Installation, this is something that can be improved on. Instructions were poor and took me a while to figure them out, but once I figured them out it took less than 30min to install.

-In overall it is a great cover and I would buy it again.

If you have any questions feel free to ask me, especially when it comes to the installation let me know.

Why did you need a TRD Pro Grill when you already have a TRD Pro Tacoma? Or am I missing something here? By the way, how loud is that exhaust on the highway? Is it annoyingly loud?

That post was for my previous Tacoma build.. I sold it and just decided to keep the same build thread for my new Pro. Not gonna lie the exhaust is load. I guess I wouldn't say really load but definitely noticeble over stock. I like it and don't mind it. Idle, coasting, and acceleration you can hear it. Loader during accelartions of course.

Okay that makes sense! Haha I had a feeling it might've been something along those lines. And hmm, I'm contemplating getting one, but I don't know if I want more exhaust noise on the highway and the added noise from my tires. I'll need to do my research more.

That cover looks great on your truck. I have been looking at this same cover for my Baja. Thanks for all of the info you posted.

One question though: How does the locking mechanism lock the cover down? What does it lock to? It looks like a single point lock in the center part by the tailgate.

Thanks man, So it comes with 3 brackets that go on the rail system. The one closes to the cab, which has a quick on and off release is the one that holds the cover on. Then you have a second set of brackets where the shocks attach to hold the cover up. Then at the end of the bed there you have two brakets. Those attach to the existing two OEM bolts.

When you close the cover it goes over the tailgate so when in the close position you can not open the tailgate at all. It will unlatch, but you can not get it to open.

The mechanism is pretty cool. So unlike the Undercover Classic with two locks on either end there is only one lock in the center. This lock has a mechanism that works both levers. When it is turned to the lock position it causes the mechanism to move both levers under the brackets to lock it and of course when turned to open it causes it to release the levers off the bracket to be able to open it. That mechanism has a lock. So when you turn it to close then you turn the key to lock it in that position. So the benefit is that if you are just running around town and don't want to lock it so you can get in and out of the cover you can turn the lock to the close position by just turning it, but not lock it with the key, if that makes since. Hope this helps! It is a great cover and very reasonably priced. Your Baja would look sick with it!

Oh yeah - I see the brackets and the latch rods in that last pic now. Thanks for explaining that - I know a guy at work that has the Classic with the 2 locks on each side of the cover - I didn't know they had other options. He likes his a lot.

Oh yeah, +1 Rep for starting that Official Baja / Pro Thread. I was going to start an Official Baja thread but glad I didn't cause you incorporated both trucks in the same thread which is more appropriate.

    Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the rep bud! I'm glad the info helped. If you want any more information or pics let me know. I had a hard time finding info on this cover. Also check out Autoanything. That's where I got mine and they always have discount codes.
