Or the far superior manual compared to the 0.05 second shifting automatic in F1.

This has already been solved. Everyone without ABS uses a wizard to enchant there wheels not to skid  jks.

Turn off your ABS if you hate it. Mines works just fine and I've never felt like it's put me in an out of control situation.

    Semi-automatic

"The gearboxes of modern Formula One cars are now highly automated with drivers selecting gears ‘seamlessly’ via paddles fitted behind the steering wheel. The 'sequential' gearboxes used are very similar in principle to those of motorbikes, allowing gear changes to be made far faster than with the traditional ‘H’ gate selector, with the gearbox selectors operated electrically. Despite such high levels of technology, fully automatic transmission systems, and gearbox-related wizardry such as launch control, are illegal - a measure designed to keep costs down and place more emphasis on driver skill. Transmissions - which must have eight forward gears, the ratios having been chosen before the season - bolt directly to the back of the engine"

I think any one of them would opt for whatever set up makes them go around the circuit the quickest

F1 tends not to race on snow covered tracks though

Only if they are allowed to use the programming from a late 2000's Tacoma. Oh, and only if they can use the Tacoma's rear disc brakes on every wheel. :p

The stock pads work great under harsh circumstances, but they're actually a bit "slick" for my taste, even on a dry level road.

They last like iron though. After 45,000 (light duty) miles mine were still 80% there; but IMO they're probably the worst type of pads for a light ABS truck on ice/snow. I believe that by the time the ceramics actually bite they do it too hard, and the ABS thinks the wheel's skidding and releases pressure; thus no brakes on ice.

I haven't really kept up with this issue, but I'm wondering if any of you have tried replacing the stock ceramic pads with organics or something with a softer initial bite?

Until today I wasn't really ready to truly believe the people saying the abs sucks. I've never experienced any problems with it myself...UNTIL THIS MORNING.

I was parked and in the 7-11 before going to work and when I came out a woman was standing next to my truck. I can see the front is bashed (I backed into the space) and she tells me she backed out of her space, hit the brakes and the truck just kept going. Sure enough, she was in a trd tacoma, older than mine but still 2nd gen.

Either she was lying and never hit the brakes or her abs kicked in (snow covered parking lot) and didn't let her stop. Either way, sucks to be me.

    That sucks.

My ABS doesn't kick in at all in reverse. If I didn't have time to shovel my driveway before I leave to somewhere. (it's a slight grade to the street ) I slide right out of it if keep the brakes on. Got to old school pump brake to I hit clean street.

You know all you have to do is lift your right foot if the ABS kicks in it kind of like using your foot on the brake when there was no ABS.

First week of owning my 2010 prerunner, 30,000 miles on it, the abs kicked on nearly sending me into a busy intersection. Dry road, no reason for it kicking in, hasn't happened again 40,000 miles now. Seriously pondering the kill switch, scary as f**k. Zero accidents over the last 20 years, would like to keep it that way.

She was lying. Only way I remotely seeing this happening is if there was ice, if not, she just straight up smacked you!

Either way sucks for you bro.
