    The better coast
This. My dad has back problems from lifting too much in his 20s.

He can't get into cars, only trucks and suvs, can't exercise, has to have "certain chairs", walks badly and now uses a cane every once in a while, etc. It is a life changer.

    Your back dictates a lot.

    Goddamn!

    This.

My wife first injured her back about 20 years ago sneezing. For many years the L1 has been messed. She would miss a week of work 1-2 times a year and walk all hunched over.

10 yrs ago I could hear her screaming over the sound of the lawnmower. Took 10 minutes to get her out of bed. She began with a chiro and it has been miraculous. Her first appt he sent her for an MRI but said he thought it was more than 1 disc and maybe more than just slipped. The MRI showed L1 and L5, and both degenerating.

Fortunately she has been much better since. Missed 3 days of work in 10 years from it and even then is able to walk upright. She doesn't even have to go unless it acts up.

Damn that's a killer. Speaking of injuries, I think I might have pinched a nerve yesterday doing shrugs. Left trap where it meets the neck is stinging like a bitch. It's hard to turn my head to the right.

That happens to me. It's usually a strained tendon and only lasts a few days. There's so much shit connecting your neck, shoulders, chest, and back, it's easy to pull something.

Going in for lower a today. It is crazy how much harder it is to get into the gym when I don't work there. Still getting after it though!

Surgery really won't help her unless she has the disc replacement..which she won't do unless she is in a wheelchair anyway.

You might have. On that side, are your fingers numb or pins and needles?

Not just your back, take it from me, you young bucks need to take care of all your joints. When you get my age, your elbows, shoulders and everything will hurt almost constantly if you don't pay attention to your joint health when you are young. I still hit the gym about 4 days a week and am in really good shape for my age group, but it's painful.

I used a walker for a month and crutches for 2, after 2 weeks unable to walk even with a walker after a back injury (at 27 or 28 years old).

My cousin has herniated discs and at 30 he couldn't put his socks on without laying down and doing some weird contortionist looking shit. You guys be careful!

Hadnt had my bf tested in awhile, we were boerd last night at work and we all did body fat tests. 5 point jackson-pollock with skin calipers had me at both times 5.48% so 9 pounds of body fat on my 180pound frame. granted thats skin calipers so could be skewed a bit either direction, but still down from 6.89 last time she did it so i know it went down

Not hatin' or anything, but I doubt you're at 5.5%... That's extremely unhealthy as we all know and basically what body builders are at while on stage... maybe a tad lower at 4%. But if you don't have abs like this dude...

I get that from time to time, not very often though. I think maybe 3 times in the last 6 years. But every time it happens it gets worse or I just strain more severe than before since I lift more now. Last time it happened I couldn't turn my head at all even if I tried. Had to have my wife take off work and drive me to the dr and was put on vicadin and lortab regimen. That was a great week, haha. However, I don't want to have to go through that again.

On another note, I'm still struggling with what to eat to move past this plateau or 190lbs. Think I'm gonna look into setting up an appointment with a nutritionist and seeing how that goes.

I call for an immediate expulsion until proof of manhood has been restablished beyond a reasonable doubt.

This. I know different body types carry body fat differently, but 5% is like day-of-bodybuilding-competition levels, which are usually accompanied by cramps, dehydration, fatigue, brain fog and is almost impossible to maintain for more than a day or so. The lowest I've ever seen anyone maintain long-term is 7-9% and that's a miserable way to live, IMO...measuring every meal, never being able to cheat, etc.

This is what 5% looks like:

In your defense though, your body fat is lower than mine! I'm currently 2 1/2 weeks into my cut, down to 203 from 205 (right on schedule) and at about 14%, so I'm catching you though!

I'll save you the money. Calculate what you eat for a week. Just write down the calories for everything you consume for 7 days. Average that out to see what your average daily consumption is and go from there. If after 7 days, you lost a pound, add around 1000 calories per day to your average. If you maintained your weight, add around 500 calories a day to your average. It's that simple.

99% of people who can't gain weight don't eat nearly enough. Gaining weight is hard. On my bulks, I eat constantly. I prepare food constantly. But I gain weight constantly, too :D

Anyway, I went in for lower A today. This Capitol gig is really making me figure out when to lift. I think I've got it figured out though: I lift 4 times a week and I'm usually off Fri-Sun, so I'm gonna go Tues afternooon, Thurs afternoon, Fri morning and Sun morning. Tues and Fri will be my upper days. Thurs and Sun will be my lower days; this gives me 3 days before I re-hit each muscle group, which is perfect for me.

Also, I've been steadily doing my cardio each day before I workout. I usually take my pre and just run until it kicks in. I'm just doing like a 10 min jog, but I plan on throwing in some HIIT, too. I'm trying to get my blood pressure below average.

For lower today, I threw in some front squats and barbell lunges, neither of which I do often. Front squats work so well, but the bar positioning is retarded with me: either I'm arms folded and I feel like my clavicles are going to break or I hold it in my hands and I feel like my wrists are going to break. I'm not getting the most out of them because I always have to rack the bar before the burn sets in. I might just stick with hex bar squats and just save front squats for high rep, low weight days. I opt out of lunges because they suck and I'm a bitch haha.

    3 least favorite workouts:

    1. incline bench
    2. wide-grip pull-ups
    3. lunges

    What about ya'll?
