After warranty expires, I will do oil analysis. I feel Mobil 1 is good for at least 7.5k and until 10k. I used Mobil 1 on my previous '00 dodge Dakota for most of its time with me and analysis showed minimal wear and compression was great across all cylinders. I sent oil in at 120k and it was lower in expected average of ppm of contaminates.

I run Valvoline Full Synthetic and change every 5-7K miles depending on if I have time or not. haha 5k is really often for me. Almost twice every three months.

I change mine every 3k with Mobil 1 syn & OemFilter, because it is not my primary vehicle and I usually only put 3k on it every year.

I do mine between 4.5k and 5.5k generally. Usually once the oil change light comes on I do it as soon as I can

granted, I have a 4 cyl, but it takes more oil than the 4.0... anyway, I change it every 5k miles. When the interval light comes on, I feel I might as well change it

I change every 5k on the truck and driveway. New Toyota filter. Get 6 for $24. I am thinking of going back to semi-syn

Oil change interval has been 8k to 10k miles. Mobil 1 EP 5W30 and oversize Mobil 1 M1-209 filter. The OEM filter would worry me going beyond 5k miles.

Now at 379k miles with no engine issues.

3k / 6 months here. small town driving and im not a fan of long trips so I don't clock more than 5k a year on mine so I change it less often because it has fewer miles on it.

I just changed my oil last week. Was the first change while on full synthetic and went about 8k miles on oil and filter. Will probably stick to 7500mi for now while using Mobile 1 EP oil and filter.

I like to go to 10k miles too, using the Mobil 1 EP 5w20 synthetic. I believe the owners manual says 5w20. Why do you use 5w30?

I've been using Toyota filters. Didn't know the M1-209 filter would fit. It must be the same diameter, but longer?

I'd like my 2006 to last as long as yours. Appreciate your insight.

I use mobil one and do it every 5k when the light comes on. If I wait any longer that light gets annoying.

Ok-- I am still on the complimentary oil changes on my 4Runner (2015) and Tacoma Prerunner (2013). The dealer can not tell me (he said they are differnet engines but they sure sound like the same v-6) why the 4Runner goes 10K on synthetic but they use dino at 5K in the Tacoma. Why is it not wise to go with synthetic at 10K on the Tacoma?

Change mine every 10k with mobile 1 extended performance 10W30 with mobile 1 oil filter. Been doing that since I purchased my truck with 53k miles and now currently had 139k miles. No issues what so ever

5W20 Are you sure? Mine is specified for 5W30 and that is what I have always used, except for a couple 0W30 winter changes. I have used Mobil1 in this truck since day 1.

M1-209 is an oversize (longer) filter.

Hey qnyla, how much of an increase above 5.5 QTS on an oil change using the m1-209? I am interested in using the m1-209 also. The Mobil 1, or k&n, or toyotas TRD filters, uses a silicone check valve. Keeping oil in the filter for cold starts is paramount and silicone seals stay more flexible. Its even more important with the Tacoma's (vertical) filter location. Do you think that has anything to do with your engine longevity?
