2nd gen struts and shocks on a 1st gen?

Hi, I just lifted my 2nd gen and my dad (who has a 1st gen) asked if my struts and shocks would fit his truck? thought I'd ask the 1st gen gurus here on TW?

 

look it up at a parts website and see if the part numbers for your truck have the same part number as his

if a generic replacement part fits both trucks then the OEM parts should as well

and the answer is no, they will not fit. 2nd gen are longer and if you use them you will bottom out the struts/shocks and ruin them

 

Not gonna happen, 2nd gens too long

 

so they will fit, but require a 1-2" lift?

 

no. and just no.

get the correct struts/shocks for your vehicle. if you want a lift do it right and buy a lift kit, unless you want something like this

Another question, anyone know about if the 1st gen rear shocks would work on a second gen? Found a good deal on some rear shocks but I think they're for a 1st gen

 

tell your dad to go EMU for a quality budget set.

 

1st gens are eye to eye the 2nd gen is different they won't work

 

I put Dakars leafs on my 2nd gen and not impressed. Plus their tech support is worthless. Might as well dialed 1-800 ask a nurse.

Ok well then they must be for a 2nd gen lol didn't know you could tell the difference that easy. Guy said they're for a 2004 but they're not eye to eye so he must be misinformed
