Had a vendor give me one of these saying it will start a V8. Seems Like a cool product but doesn't say what its rated for and i'm sceptical. Not sure whats needed to start the Tacoma, but ried it on a co-workers dead Civic and it seemed like it jumped his 4Cyl no problem. Just not sure I want to keep in the Tacoma if it wont help me jump start it. May give it to the gf for her car, but I like that it has a USB port on it to charge phones, computers, and a variety of other electronics also, its just a tad thicker than my HTC one so it doesn't take up space.

I don't have that one but I have a similar one

Noco Genius Boost GB30 12V UltraSafe Lithium Jump Starter

It started my truck with a totally dead battery just fine. Worked better than doing a normal battery to battery jump

Looks like the next step up from the one I have has the same specs as yours, Wish there site listed the specs for the ultra slim. Been wanting to try it but the battery in the truck is new lol

I just blew 90 bucks on a big 'ol heavy charge pak at the auto parts store.

I shoulda ponied a up a little more and bought one of these - less space in the bed and less weight in the truck. :goingcrazy:

From what I read these stay charged for 6 months, and the big heavy jumpstarts don't last that long. I didn't realize the big ones were that expensive.

If you want to check it out, find an old 350 chevy truck and see if it will start that. I have one of the battery packs....does Tacos and such just fine (pretty much anything with the gear reduction type starters)....tried it on my FJ 40 (350 with the old boat anchor type starter) and it simply said WTF!

I just picked up a pilot boost brand one from lowes for $80. The first time I saw it they were $140 so I figured I'd jump on it before it went back up. Claims its 400 cranking amps stays charged for 6 months and charges phones computers blah blah. Also came with a 12v cig lighter style plug.

    Stock for now...
The old direct-drive starters in the 40 series draw a lot of amperage even in the best of conditions - let alone when they get 38yrs old and start to drag a bit . I know mine knocks the snot out of a battery , doubt any laptop computer unit could move it but some of these new lithium batteries are amazing .

Received it a few days ago. It's a nice unit. Came nearly charged so I played with it briefly then fully charged it. It lacked the connection I needed for my intended purpose. Which is run my ARB fridge/freezer when not plugged into my running truck/generator or other 110v source. It didn't come w/ the needed attachment, a female 12 volt receiver. It did come w/ the male side for charging. I found the female on Amazon and it arrived shortly after. I plugged the fully charged unit into the female connection with connects to the 12v/10a output. It ran my ARB fridge approx. 36 hours. It was set to 32*f and was located in my garage with a fairly low ambient temperature. Approx. 45* average. The fridge didn't need to work too hard. The good news for me was that it in fact could run the fridge. I'll continue to test by bringing it indoors for a higher ambient temp. My only gripe is that it has taken a very long time 8+ hours to recharge on 110ac from my modern built home outlet. The literature states 3-4 hours from a complete discharge.
