    Uniballs have as many problems as ball joints. I have been looking at all of them a lot. I was torn between the TC and the LR. LR won, not just in price, but because they are sealed. No need to keep greasing them.

    How do you know if your ball joint goes bad? I've heard people say they go bad after one trip :confused:

    Extra play and wiggle in it. The boot is usually ripped too. Haven't had one go bad yet though.

    I've heard some people say their ball joints go out after one trip like Dakota said, never heard anything like that with a uniball :confused:

    Uniballs aren't protected from the elements. My truck won't be sitting in WA it's entire life, so I want something protected from the salt and grime that I will see in other states. A Ball joint is protected because it is greased from the factory. Not to mention, a lot of them allow for a zerk fitting to regrease on your own as needed.

    A uniball might have better strength because of the design, but they aren't any better/worse than a balljoint is. Believe me, I looked for reasons to spend more money, but couldn't find any other reasoning for it. A ball joint is good enough for me, and allows a lot of extra adjustability in my alignment.

    EDIT: Also, reading n expedition portal, people are having less flex and angle from the uniballs vs the ball joints. Uniballs can only travel around as far as the hole they are in. Ball joints can do a lot more rotation before maxing out.

    I had one of my Light Racing ball joints go out in July-ish. About 60k miles, 6 years??
    It's a definite feeling when it goes. I was going in a roundabout and the truck did a definite 'shrug'

    I have Camburg UCAs that have moog joints in them. My understanding is that it helps the geometry remain closer to design (stock) specs and it's got a boot which helps with the elements. And they have zerg for regrease.

    I've had uniball uppers on my truck for ten years over 100K miles in all kinds of conditions. They don't need a cover. Get FK brand and forget about them for 50K miles. Even the china brand lasts 30K. When they are breaking in they squeek sometimes, clean them and keep dry lube on them when you wash your truck and your balls will be happy for years to come.

    Just keep in mind we don't use salt much in the PNW. So not as big of deal for you guys who won't be leaving here. I will, and will be back in the salt belt. That's why i went with a sealed ball joint.
