T-Case shifting

I came from manual shifters in Jeeps and this dash-mounted dial is just plain weird to get used to.
I found that I can get into Low Range fairly easily buy shutting down and restarting (with the dial indicating Low Range). It usually goes right in.

Going the other way from 4 low to 2 high is another story.
Lots of *monkeying around to get the thing out of 4WD.

I know, RTFM , but is there a real world recipe on how to get in and out of 4 low without the *monkeying and warning buzzers etc. ?

Forward, backward, shift out, shift in, shift out, etc, etc.

 

I usually have good luck with putting the truck in neutral on flat level ground then turning the dial from 4 Lo to 2 Hi. Any uneven road or incline seems to make shifting out of 4 Lo more difficult.

 

Stop, neutral, switch. No problems whatsoever, in or out of 4LO. Wait for it to go completely in or out.

Maybe there's something wrong with mine....
Tried it in neutral and level....wouldn't even go into 4Hi
Was at work and didn't have time to fool with it.

 

I also like the old fashioned manual locking hubs with the floor shift. I don't know if your Owner's Manual is the same as the one for my 2008; however, page 177 on mine explains "Shifting procedure (with manual transmission)" pretty nicely. Hope that helps.
