Alright guys, I know we all love to joke around but I'm seriously considering selling my Tacoma. I've already done the research through AutoTrader.com, Stealership trade, Carmax, even compared to other listings on Craigslist, but nothing is more spot on than the members of TacomaWorld. What would you consider a fair price for a great looking (IMO) Tacoma with high mileage?

    Please consider the following:
    Year: 2006 - Original Owner
    Mileage: 186,000
Model: DCSB TRD SPORT in Silver
    [IMG]

My vehicle came with these options when purchased new
    EJ - JBL sound system...
GY - Side curtain airbags (which were an option back then)
    PY - Sport package
    TO - Tow package

    Additional add-ons performed over time:
    Factory roof rack
    Factory skid plate
    Factory LED taillights
Factory Smoked Chrome Headlights with LED bulbs.
Gentex Auto-dimming Mirror with LCD monitor connected to...
Sony Back-up Camera installed into a Factory tailgate handle found on newer models
Swapped out both silver mirrors for Factory 2014 black ones (not pictured)

    Recent work:
Replaced the catalytic convertors with NEW FACTORY ones
Replaced the starter with a NEW FACTORY one
Replaced the Thermostat with a NEW FACTORY one
Service records available through Toyota for most of the routine maintenance

The Tacoma has never been in an accident, but I did have rust removed from around the windshield. That work was also performed by Toyota.

My Tacoma has other mods that would make it a contender in my option. They are the following:
Bilstein 5100's all the way around and set at 2.5
    265/70R17 cooper tires Discovery ATP
American Racing ATX series rims with Teflon coating
    Elite Sliders (welded on)
OEM Factory black hood scoop insert
    OEM Factory black badging
    Line-X valance
    GrillCraft with Toyota Emblem

    Removing more than likely:
    Avid bar
Bed racks (cage, bars and bike carriers)

The inside is just as clean as the outside even almost 10 years later.

Part it out to get the most money back, it's tough to sell anything modded

I don't know about california market, around here I would say 14k with mods here in ks, but everything is cheaper in ks fo the most part.

Are you looking to get a newer truck or a different car altogether?

Agreed with the other members prob round 14 but like other said start high, settle for market value..I think your biggest obstacle is mileage. But, you have the Toyota reputation on your side..

I also think your better selling your mods then try selling a more stock truck, i think its tougher to sell it with mods cause even if the buyer likes it hes going to say he didnt want the mods on it to get you to drop your price

Looking to purchase a new Subaru WRX STI Limited if I'm honest with you.

    I was offered 9K.

My biggest fear is that mileage would hold the price down even though the truck has been well taken care of. I was thinking that $13,000 would be a steal. Someone would maybe think something was wrong with it. $15,000 seams a little steep solely due to mileage.

I sold a reasonably clean, stock 05 Double cab TRD 2.5 years ago with 140k on it for $12k. And it took a while to sell it too. I paid about 15 for my current one with 122k but it was ridiculously spotless and stock. As much as we appreciate mods typically stock trucks sell for more. Far more potential buyers. In the minds of the non-enthusiast a modified vehicle is beat on.

If you were here in the Seattle area, I bet you could sell it pretty quickly for around $18k. Car prices are really weird up in this area.

You have a nicely fitted truck, I would think you would get top dollar, (Kelly Blue book)

I am pretty sure I am going to do the same, My is a stock "09" access cab 4x4 with about 31K, new tires, new battery, Radco cap (topper).I am going to look at the "16" Tacoma/Tundra, also the Dodge "Renagade" I prefer to sell rather than trade. jmop

You have far less miles than OP.

I'd ask for at least 16-17k on trade in.

    The better coast
    I would say 12-15k.

If you are going to trade it in tell the dealer to give you 10k for it and drop the price of the car an additional 3k :D

Have you looked into what Cobb is doing with the WRX's? They're getting more power out of the FA engine than the EJ in the STI.

    http://blogs.cobbtuning.com/2014/12/09/2015_wrx_tuning_results/

A nice little blog about the WRX.

http://forums.nasioc.com will have more information than you'll ever be able to read through regarding both cars.

I have a 2005 STI that I wouldn't trade for the world because it's paid off, but the new DI FA20 WRXs sure are pretty tempting.

Fukn Win8.1 is a joke , sorry about the last cluster post ....ggrrr...

    How about this :
Interesting thread . I've considered selling my '08 to upgrade to a newer one but the book prices are all over the place and most seem pretty low due to age . No idea what to even ask for it or where to start . It's nearly perfect , other than the crap springs ,basically stock '08 DCSB TRD Offroad with only 31K on the clock . Everything works and just two very small scratches that I can find .
    Any ballpark ?
    Sarge
