    I used to have a a TRD supercharger on the Tacoma, converted back to NA when I bought the Tundra. The SC was tons of FUN!!!
    Finally got my transmission pulled out last weekend.

    Picked up the resurfaced flywheel yesterday, received a new center support bearing in the mail from AZ Autohaus as well.

    Cleaned up and repainted the trans support cross member (had a little rust at the outboard mounting locations.

    holy shit, i almost lost my beer reading this!
    as for armor, ive torn the crap out of the bottom of the diff, little black spray paint and bam! good as new. the tg rear armor does its job, protects the thin metal behind the ring gear. cheap and no "flamboyant diapers"

    Better than an expensive ass reman! Hopefully my dealer has a pair in stock. Do you generally replace the plunger will the contacts?

    they will, we have probly 20 of each lol. and no i dont replace the plunger. i use my wizzy wheel and clean up the contact surface of the plunger. scotch brite would work as well.

    When I did mine I ordered a rebuild kit from Amazon. It was like $15 and had the contacts & plunger.

    Nice, I struck out today at local parts places. Any idea how much they run? I thought about just cleaning everything and wrapping the bad one in tinfoil for the time being haha.

    Yeah I saw a few online buy I wanted to try and find some local. Hoping to get tags on the taco tomorrow and go get a quote to build a front driveline.

    Do you have other angles of that TG rear diff armor?

    I'm curious of how much of a PITA it is to fill the rear diff. Also does that armor just drain out the hole cut for the drain plug (eg water, mud debris, etc)?

    Also, maybe it's just an illusion but it seems to be hanging below the pumpkin quite a bit.

    I like using the 8" pipe cap as diff protection. 20 bucks for one cap enough to do two diffs.

    I generally leave the oil in as it helps keep the diff cool and not warp. however, you dont need to fully weld these things on. a few 1" welds is all thats needed.

    You're not going to warp it at the pumpkin.
    I drain so the heat penetrates and doesn't get cooled premature from the oil in the housing.
