How well is the limited slip differential offroad

I was wondering if any one had taken one of the second gen 2wd tacomas offroad with the limited slip rear and if so how much better was it then just plain 2wd

 

I take mine offroad pretty often and I don't play pussy footed wheeling trips...Some left foot brakes or parking/e-brake will work pretty well if you find yourself hung up.

Understand what you are driving- but you can get yourself pretty far!!

 

My brother (Dtrujillo63) learned to off-road on LSD, his truck is a 4WD sport so when he first got it he had to learn to take proper lines and make use of his LSD using the e-brake method. He was able to follow a lot of the locked Tacomas trough some pretty rough trails. So you can get pretty far on just the LSD. J4RR off-roads with just LSD in his truck and he pretty much follows us anywhere.

I think learning to off-road with no locker is an excellent way to develop your skills, it def teaches you how to properly choose a line where your tires will have contact at all times.

Everyone should learn how to DRIVE offroad without lockers.

You need to treat lockers with respect and learn how they handle. Even after you have years of experience with them, they can put you in some dangerous situations when you least expect it.

But yes...and LSD is better than an Open diff and better than 2WD.
