It is absolutely absurd... Toyota hasn't release 2016 info stating brake controller and or tow package specs, as of yet

    Yes sir.
I will be the first to say I have been a little negative on some of the other threads..

It comes from stuff like this. Asking a question or making a point and then the fanboya start bashing.
Most the time they don't have anything to add or know what is being talked about.
The just want to bash someone that does not feel the same or picks to look outside the box.

Wonder how many of them that posted up about the truck being great and will tow great yet never tow or have towed.

if snide comments from people on a public internet forum cause you to change your decision on the purchase of a vehicle or any other personal decision, i'd suggest stepping away from the keyboard.

once again, when it costs the manufacturer extra money on every model for something most people will never use, then yes it is an unreasonable request.

    and most importantly....^^^^this

What happened here? Thread title changed since my last visit. People no longer able to suggest things they would like Toyota to offer on the next gen Tacoma? Everyone acts like their mothers famous cookie recipe is being criticized. We are talking about 30-40,000 dollar trucks. Is a brake controller a ridiculous request? Some people tow with a mid sized truck. I think Toyota knows this, they do offer a tow package for a reason.

The only thing ridiculous in this thread is the speculation on shortcomings of the 3rd gen, when literally no info has been released on this subject.

Its probably better for you has most of your posts are dissatisfied with Toyota. Do something about it and get rid of the truck and find something better. Its your fault for keeping the truck you hate so much.

do you not see every other thread in the 3rd gen section? they're all speculation and have/have nots on a vehicle that hasn't been fully detailed. there were countless threads in the 2nd gen section that were the same way previous to the 2016 coming out. heated mirrors, heated seats, diesel, roll down rear glass, etc etc.

I don't make a habit of criticizing the mods around here. Your playground your rules. But in this case - I believe you're wrong.

By your logic - no towing package would ever be added at all, since most folks don't tow.

However, for those that do tow anything other than the lightest of trailers, a towing package is a reasonable option package. Toyota would definitely sell fewer Tacomas if they didn't offer that package. Ability to sometimes tow is perceived as an important capability even for a mid-sized pickup.

It's therefore reasonable to have a discussion about what is and what is not a part of that optional extra cost towing package.

Yes, the specs of the 2016 aren't final. But if you think Toyota marketing and engineering types don't occasionally come to this site to take the pulse of the buyer community - you don't understand modern corporate marketing.

Yes, I jokingly suggested renaming the thread after another member posted up questionable specs on the 3500 and we had a series of posts providing updated info. That's not the same thing as renaming the thread in a way that mocks the original question and the original poster.

That's all I've got to say. Unsubbed from this train wreck.

i never said most folks dont tow. i said most folks would never need what the OP is asking for (a brake controller). i'd suggest reading the disc vs drum debate in this section.

even if they came to this forum and a small number of people could actually use a standard issue brake controller, this entire forum is a sliver of the amount of the people that own tacomas.

All I'm gonna say is that if you are complaining about having to buy a $200 brake controller, you probably don't need a Tacoma, or a truck at all...Or a mancard.

And as for a place to put it, put it where it is was meant to be. Ain't like you're gonna do it every day of the week forever. I mean you can't have your cake and eat it too.

If it's not designed to tow 6500#, how hard is it to really make it leaps and bounds closer to that rating? 400 dollar leaf springs and a $200 brake controller and your done. I've towed a 1st gen on a 16 ft. landscaping trailer with no trailer brakes (I don't have a controller, no need for one) Granted it wasn't but 6 miles at 55mph, but it was down a long ass grade, through 2 stop lights, and down a gravel drive to the shop, but it surely didn't kill me or scare me once. #17andfearless I guess?

I have the four leaf upgrade and a wt. distribution hitch with sway control. Would like to add firestone air bags
I have pull from Mass to Florida 4 times . Now it was not a fast trip and surly eat up some gas !! But I took my time and kept my distance
Would do it again in a heart beat . I like using my Taco and keeping inside and safely of its work limits:):)

You know what it is called? It's called liability. Toyota or any manufacturer for that matter is covering their collective asses. A utility trailer weighs in at 1k.

You may want to go spend some time on a Honda forum. You will regain your appreciation for Tacomaworld quite rapidly.

I've found the members of ColoradoFans quite polite and supportive of each other. But again, that tends to happen to members of very small, fringe groups. :D

I really don't think you read what I said.

I did not complain about paying for a brake control.

I ask why they dont offer it or build in an area for it.
You also have no clue how much I tow a week or month.

And Toyota claims it is made to tow 6500 lb
Why should I need to upgrade anything to tow 2000 lb.

some of us tow more that others and need to tow at speed posted in the mountian areas.

glad your truck is working for you.

There is a difference in towing 300 to 400 miles on a weekend and you towing 6 miles down the road.

So are you saying my dad should buy a 16000 pound truck to pull the quad slide 36' camper?
or a 20 000 pound truck to pull the bale Hauler with 20 bails on it?

Who's overly sensitive here? Is it the fanboys that get their feelings hurt every time someone makes even a slightly negative comment about the Tacoma or is it me when I'm complaining about the complete lack of objectivity and maturity on this website?

I agree many truck owners don't need this, but that's why you make it part of an optional tow package for those that do like many others do. I will agree that it's silly to get all up in arms complaining about features that aren't finalized, but the tolerance for anything negative about the Tacoma on this website is extremely low.
