Anyone built their own bed frame?

Anyone built their own bed frame?
Gonna be moving in a few months and would like something purpose built and suited for my needs.
I need some secure storage, and as much clothing storage integrated as possible for the size.

I'm drawing up some plans right now, I'll upload a scan of them when I'm done.

But the dimensions are going to be 90'' long (80'' for mattress, 10'' for storage on the end) 62'' wide, and 19.5'' tall where the mattress sits, but 28'' tall to the top of the storage to be flush with the mattress.

 

Got the right side view done, the drawers are very low, but if I hinge the mattress to have storage underneath (like a travel trailer mattress) I'd have 9'' of storage between the mattress and the top of the drawers.
Also the scale isn't 100% accurate, it's the best I could do with a ruler and pencil.

I have built one, and it came out pretty good. Instead of drawers I just put recessed openings at the bottom for shoes and such. I thought thise bottom openings would be bigger, but with my wife being 4'9" she would have needed a ladder to get in had I built it taller. What I did like about it was the sturdiness. You can do some serious boot knocking and that thing is staying put. I used mostly 2 x 6 and 2 x 8 for construction so it's solid. I ended up not staining it though, as I plan to pull it all apart and modify it at some juncture.

Thanks for the input, I would hope that with 2x6 and 2x8 it would be stout enough.

 

...might be good to design for a center support (i.e. feet in the center span of the bed, or a sturdy rail running down the center)...

 

There will be one main support running down the center with smaller supports running from side to side (spaced 10'' apart).
