Good morning all. Yesterday was great weather with a little rain in the evening. It looks as if today is going to be nice also. Yahoo!

I have used up a few handles, but I have been swinging the same maul since the early 70's. I actually enjoy it.

On the bug deflector. I have a Auto Vent Shade, AVS, myself. Attaches under the hood with a plastic screw and does not touch the paint on the lip or top of the hood. At first I though the screws would not be tough enough but I have had mine installed for 5 years with no problems. If I remember correctly there is no drilling of the hood required to install.

Back with the wood. Now I need to unload it and take a few pics. The wood is a little pricey at $100 but it is seasoned. The wood is sold by the bin not by the cord or half cord. It looks like it might be close to a third of a cord.

Seasoned wood around here is going for $300+ a cord. Unseasond for $225+ a cord.

Now that wood is getting a little pricey, but I'm sure it's worth it. I sometimes wish we had a real fireplace, but up here they won't pass for 5-star energy rating ... that becomes an issue when the sub-zero spells come up. So we have a gas fireplace. Not as authentic, but does the trick.

 

When the wife tells you to get firewood, this morning, you just do it. I had planned on doing this today from yesterday just not from the source I used today. And as we all know if the wife is not happy!

Evening Paul, our predicted 10" snowfall turned into hardly a trace here at the house in Palmer; about 3" overnight on base, 30 miles south of here. I am disappointed in this "storm." Oh well, can't fight mother nature.

I'm kinda in the middle of 3-6 or 6-10.
To bad I have to work and wait for the idiots to show up in the afternoon.
Morning should be no problem but waiting for people to show up or cancel after noon is going to be a joy. Stand around and can't go home is one of the finer points of being a tech. Such a joy to run bad roads after everyone one else is closed for hours before.

On the upside. Rumor has it our lunch will be from a new place that just opened.
Been to it in another area so will see.

Have an issue with one of the race cars. A distributor has suddenly decided to start walking itself out of time internally. So a couple of days to reconfigure a timing setup and run up the new specs are in order. Grrrrrrrrr. Stuff that never should happen..... Lol

Seems to be the same pattern from work....

Reading your words about Charlie puts a little lump in my throat and tear in my eye. I only knew the man from on here, but somehow he touched my soul. I know it must be tough for you, hang in there brother.

Moving south sounds like exactly the right thing for her; I know Charlie and her had that in mind anyway. Sorry about the Jersey stuff ... I have my own story about my Chief that I think I've related on here previously. Short story is they move around with the Air Force for 30 yrs, retire from AF in 2000, buy home for $210K close to their kids/grandkids that they intend to live in until they die; by 2009 same home is taxed at $450K ... 2010 have to sell and downsize so he can afford to final retire next Fall (2015). And the home they sold was nothing too fancy, simple 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch with basement on 1/2 acre lot. Still upsets me to think about it, it was tough on them. I'm closer to them than my own parents ... but that's a whole different story.

And oh, we're finally getting some snow here ... about 6" accumulated and still coming down; supposed to continue past midnight Saturday.

Its j7st wrong. We have "grandfather" rules down here. Now if ya have problems with old 1 tank may be possible to go to 2 tank but they push the aerobic systems here wich are money pits. And for well I wish mine was that shallow. I'm at 478ish.

 

Good morning, everyone. About 3" of wet snow here this morning in northeast PA. Supposed to stop by 10 and it's a mix of rain and snow now - that will make it fun to clear.

Charlie is surely missed here - and so happy that Paul is there to help his wife. One thing you can be sure of, every level of government will have it's hands in her pocket before she finalizes the estate. Sad.

It looks like today is the day to go out and shoot the January Postal Match target - since it is a WWII Russian/Finn rifle match...I guess the weather is perfect!

 

Morning fine folks. Been busy the past few days so trying to catch up on here. Drove up to Shelton CT. for a dealer trade yesterday. 8 3/4 hours round trip day(had to stop for a late lunch ). No offense to you Sue, but some of the women driving out there shouldn't be on the road (some men too) because they have gotten more aggressive then men .

Was a wood whore (that's what the missus called me) when we heated with wood back in the 80's. The old ford pick-up was always loaded with wood then it was cut, split and stacked. Then I bought it by the cord until I got an air tight coal stove. A lot less work and heated the house with a spackle bucket a day .

Glad to hear Bear is doing good Rob.

Glad you are able to help Charlie's wife Paul. It is always hard going through the belongings of a lost one. Too many memories. Hope she makes out okay with selling the house and not getting shafted by NJ laws.

Fortunately we only got about 3" of the white stuff. Unfortunately it is supposed to start raining later in the day which will make for a real mess. Just glad it's the weekend and the wife doesn't have work.
