Had a check engine light come on the other day and it was diagnosed by the dealer as a bad/failed O2 sensor. My question: Can I drive this truck at all while I'm waiting for the part to arrive in the mail? ('98 Taco) Also, the dealer didn't say where this sensor is located. Would I be correct to assume it's the one that plugs into the exhaust, near the cat?

Go to Autozone (or similar) and they will read the code for you and hand you a print out. It will tell you which O2 sensor is the problem. Safe money is on bank 1 upstream.

Yes, you can drive around with it like that, if it is indeed just an O2 sensor, but you'll be getting pretty crappy fuel economy.
