About a month ago I got my tacoma. I had to travel 2.5 hours to get it. It is toyota certified. Since getting it, I have discovered that the blower motor chirps, which is annoying but not the end of the world. More importantly, my seatbelt fails to tighten/retract about 60% of the time. I can put it on, only to discover the damn thing is so loose its sitting on my legs. I have to rip on it and tug to finally get it to tighten. My question is, being toyota certified, ANY toyota dealer will address these issues correct? I'm worried that since the trucks so new that my local dealer will tell me I have to travel back where i got it to get it fixed. In which case I would probably call toyota and tell on them haha.

If it hasn't been done already get the seat belt recall done. If it has been done, you got the same updated retractor that I got. It sucks, needs some persuasion to work properly. Not sure how it works with a used truck but the blower is covered under a TSB but you may not qualify for it. Buy the updated one and in 10 minutes you can install it and be certified chirp free.

If it's certified, I believe it's covered for the first 12M/12k similar to a bumper to bumper. Any Toyota dealer will honor it.

FWIIW when I was shopping for my truck late last year they told me "Toyota Certified" came with 100k Bumper to Bumper warranty... I ended up buying new so only got standard 36k.

i didnt specifically choose the certification. The truck already had it from the previous owner.

I've owned several BMWs for years. 2 were CPO'd and I'm far from ignorant.

    Don't feel bad...their cars are pre-loved, not pre-owned.

All the dealer certifications I've seen include a slightly longer warranty period, and a thousand some-odd point inspection. Sadly, that inspection is done (or not done) by the same person who does the 21-point inspection they give away for free to anyone who drives up, but you have to pay $3k for this one.

Plus, a lot of dealerships I've talked to won't allow you to buy an extended warranty (what you'd REALLY want on a used car) without first buying the certification. You're literally being robbed.

this is why i'm going to drive my truck until it don't drive anymore. I Don't want to deal with the buying process for a LONG time.

^^ Hear you on that one. When I started looking for a Tacoma I wanted to buy used for all the usual reason, but I soon realized I was lucky that 4x4 Tacomas aren't popular in my area. Tons of trucks in Texas, but not a huge percentage of recreational, mid-size pickups. That ended up making the buying process easy because it was 1. buy a new Tacoma, or 2. drive really far to get a used one for $2k off and > 10k miles.

I wish i could have bought new but i have no regrets theres only 42,000 mi on my 2010. from what ive read, thats not even broken in yet! And it looks like i will never be buying a brand new tacoma in the future because i do not like the new design at all.
