Oh well. I'd take a Cherokee. I drove a brand new limited a few weeks ago, very nice.

Yeah, they are nice. The Sport models are kinda sparse, but the Limited, and TrailHawk versions are nice. Its smaller than the 4 Runner though.

LOL!! The Renegade is a stretched Fiat 500 too! NOT the vehicle I would choose to put in that test.

Interestingly enough......It has Auto Transmission fluid in the T-case.....Krazie would have a fit.

I had a pre-production TRD Pro 4Runner for a few weeks (including using it to chase the Tundra win of the Baja 1000) and let's just say I still miss that thing.

I don't know if the cherokee is different than the grand when it comes to gauges and what not but jeep is having a ton of problems with their electrical systems in the grand Cherokees right now. And once it's starts having the issue it won't let you control a/c, seat heaters, radio/infotainment, and you can't even see speed or any gauge information. YouTube it. Just an FYI if you are in the market. They are nice on the inside though.

Been in my GC Hemi Overland for just over a year now. The radio had a couple glitches prior to a reflash, but all good since. 24kmi. I considered the 4Runner as I've had lots of Toyotas in the past, but no V8... And I'll tell ya, the Hemi scoots, handles well, tows a shit ton (7200) and after replacing the shit street tires with Cooper Zeon LTZ... It's off road ability is awesome. 4 low creeps like a champ, and the adjustable suspension puts me above 6+ inches of snow that I drive through on a regular basis in the winter.
    So far....so good.

Just hoping Chrysler long term reliability issues don't catch up with me.

TOTOTA, BRING BACK THE V8 4RUNNER!!!!

Oh, and let the shitstorm begin telling me how much crap my Jeep is.
    Keep in mind, my last three vehicles were-newest to oldest;
    '12 Tacoma DCSB
    '08 FJ off-road package
    '02 4Runner
    '00 V8 Tundra
I like the Toyotas. Just not a fit this time

Honestly I don't think they are crap I just knew they had some issues. Before we bought my wife's 4runner limited it was a toss up between that and the grand cherokee.

This is exactly what I ran into. It was time for a new company vehicle. I went straight to Toyota as that's where my allegiance is. The Rav was too small, the Highlander looked like a minivan, and the 4Runner was too big (I do a lot of work in nyc). I ended up going with a Grand Cherokee Altitude. It's a decent size, has full time four wheel drive, and in my opininion looks sharp (wife hates the black on black).

I don't believe this at all! Jeeps aren't indestructible. If they had any unicorn anything, then they would be. Trust me, I know!

I've owned 7 Toyotas, BMW M3, Audi S4, and a shitty 1980 GMC. Just got a Grand Cherokee, and I'm pretty damn impressed. I also test drove the Cherokee Trailhawk, and the seats in that thing are awesome. Jeep has always had pretty amazing off road emphasis, but the quality and the interiors on the newer ones are on comparison with some of the German stuff.

No problems yet on the Jeep, but I'm cautiously optimistic, so I leased it to give me an "out" :D

Hmmm, article gives the jeep the win for interior and on road refinement. But then you read the editor/tester comments below, and most of them picked the 4Runner. Funny.

I also find humour in the fact that Jeep owners I know that talk smack come to me for suggestions on solving their mechanical and electrical issues.

funny how the jeeps 4 wheel drive system completely malfunction, the other 2 didn't, yet still won the competition, If im out wheeling, I don't want my 4 wheel drive system to not disengage

Seems the issue was easily fixed, and going to be more common place with the new electronic systems being employed on 4 wheel drive vehicles.

A lot of confidence there. Humming along at highway speeds, having the possibility of being a beta tester. And Toyota got so much flack for the ETCS.
