haha yes I know, they interviewed him, Kearse contacted him offering him his game helmet and jersey signed by the team in exchange for the ball, a sports memorabilia company offered him $20,000 for the ball too. The guy then said in addition to the helmet and jersey he wanted Kearse to buy him tickets to the superbowl too

No they have always been after the hawks and not wanting them to go to the superbowl again

Yeah a $5500 fine is so ridicules for tossing a ball into the stands at a home game win. Maybe, maybe if they did it on the road because it would be like a form of taunting???

I guess it could be but how often does a player throw the ball up into the stands? I know in the pats championship game it happened at least once, are they getting fined as well?

Here, let me repost it again on a new page for you guys that won't go back and read...

JJ watt fined 5512 for throwing ball into stands.
    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...l-into-stands/

    Quote:
Players are usually fined if they throw the ball into the stands, but not if they hand the ball into the stands. Giving away a football is not considered a violation of league rules, but the NFL worries about fan safety when a ball is thrown into the stands because there could be issues of two fans fighting over a ball, fans running into each other while trying to catch the ball or fans falling while running after a ball.

I didn't post the original comment, but no, I don't think the NFL is after any specific team.

However, I do think they do some things for TV dollars and competitiveness that hurt some teams and help others.

An example of this would be taking home prime time games away from the Hawks. Blowing people out is not good for ratings. I also think games are reffed by humans and some humans are biased. The disparity in penalties called against the Seahawks and their opponents is ridiculous. Everybody knew that the defensive holding and pass interference points of emphasis this off season were because of Seattle's D, what they didn't know was that in those areas we would be one of the least penalized team because physical play in the first 5 yards does not mean holding or interference. I don't put it past the NFL to ask the refs to watch specific teams extra close.

I do not believe the NFL is corrupt. I just think it's run by humans whose livelihoods are tied to how the season plays out. We all know a Dallas and Pittsburgh SB would put a lot more dollars in the owners pockets than Sea and Indy.

Pretty much. Just watched Belichick do another press conference - this is such a bullshit non issue that it's ridiculous.

This thread is getting pretty pathetic with all this inflate gate crap and pats fans defending it. Guess what? The Pats cheat. There's way worse ways teams can cheat the game but the Pats have been known to take little extra advantages here and there and I'm sure they do it often. Get over it.

In the AFC Championship game, it doesn't matter if the dumb ball is properly inflated or not, they're still winning that game. The point is they pull pathetic little stunts like this and risk getting all the negative press and fines for it if they get caught. They should realize by now it's not worth it. Sorry if Brady has little girlish hands and he can't properly grip the ball enough, that's just too damn bad. Play the game fairly and stop doing the little things that undermine the integrity of the game.

Over or under inflated, as long as its the same for both teams, just like bad officiating w/bad calls I can get past it as long as the play calling is equally bad for both teams...

I gotta say, Bellichick's press conference today was very smart and strategic. Coming out and being definitive and before the NFL gets to report its findings.

Hell of a lot better than Brady's pathetic presser the other day, that's for sure.
