Does the truck need to be aligned again after the bushing is installing the bushing?

Well final result is in. The bushing helped a little with the 40mph drone . Now I've removed the rear 1" lifting block and the carrier bearing spacers and now that just got rid of the harsh 20-30mph rumble strip vibe . I still have mild take off shudder but that's just a charictoristic of the weak rubber housing carrier bearing design "normal" so I'm pretty happy with the truck now . But when that rear was lifted an inch I did 1 degree shim and 2 degree shim even 3 degree shim with a million different carrier spacer variables using washers and this was the only way I got rid of the vibes . Hope this helps

Hey chase I have a question for you , recently I had your guys install my bushing. The deep 40mph drone now is not quite as bad but still there so my question is the actual spider gear in the diff binding and causing damage due to the lift or am I now hearing the passenger side bearing . I can live with the drone but I'm concerned some more serous damage is being done. I guess my question is what's making the noise now that the needle bearing has been removed

how far in did you push the bushing? its 1/4 in longer than the bearing, and if you seat it as far in the diff as the bearing it will bind against the spider gear of the diff (not good)

I took the truck to ecgs and had them do the install , and I'm pretty sure it's not touching spider gear because it would constantly grind and I only have the 40mph drone I'm just wondering what's making the drone now that the needle bearing is gone .after install the drone was gone for like two days and came right back

I have a 14 Tacoma DC with TRD off road, and I installed 2" add a leafs with the toytec 3 degree shim in the rear on one weekend, and then the very next weekend I installed billy 5100s (second c-clip setting) and Toytec/Eibach 112-620 coils in the front with a 3/8" spacer. In the week that I drove it after installing the add-a-leafs, I didn't notice any new vibrations, but after installing the front suspension I noticed a slight vibration when I am accelerating that starts around 5 mph and ends at 25 mph. It is more pronounced when I do jack rabbit starts or start going up an incline. The vibration goes away if I put it in 4WD and the diff drop kit has little to no effect on the vibe (on or off). After reading parts of this thread (I'll admit I didn't read every single post so that may bite me in the a$$), I felt sure this was my issue and I ordered the ECGS bushing and installed it a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, the vibe remains the same to this day. When I say slight vibration, I mean that no one riding in the truck with me notices it unless I point it out, so truthfully I could probably swallow my OCD and just get used to the vibe, but I can't help but think that a vibration is indicative of excessive wear and tear on some part of my drivetrain. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated!

There was a big article where they took 10 tacomas bone stock and drove them for a week 7 displayed vibrations through school zone speeds and 9 out of 10 experienced take off shudder I'm guessing lifting these trucks just make it a little worse . Tacoma has used the same clamshell front diff since 1995 and there has been tons of lifted tacos and there still going strong . I have some vibes as well but at this point I guess it's just something we need to turn up the radio and drive . Me for one I'm done chasing these phantom vibes . I've tried everything already and it just moves the vibe to a different mph

I have a 2006 double cab sport. After I bought it used and took a year to figure out .
    1. Front diff bearing vibration- bad (fixed with ECGS bushing)
    2. Rear drive shaft vibration- faint (fixed 3' shim and 5/8" carrier spacer)
    3. Front wheel bearings- bad (replaced)
    4. Tire unbalanced- mild (balance again every 50,000 km)
Now it honestly rides like an old Cadillac. smooth.....

Other than the wheel bearings, I could have keep driving this Taco for next 10 years with the vibrations.... It probably wouldn't fall apart. Tough trucks. What can you live with? I'm fussy, I like a well oiled and running machine.

Your dealing with rear DL vibe (the infamous take off shutter). That goes away when in 4wd also because it takes a lot of torque away from the rear drive. Just curious how much lift you got with that spacer in the front. Is the just the drivers side? I have the same front lift with just the 1/4 drivers side spacer. I'm thinking of going to 1/2" drivers and moving the 1/4" to the passenger side.

Yup I've had the take off vibe since the rear was lifted and the front diff vibe since the front was lifted. They are very minor in fact when I had the duratracs on I couldn't tell but now I'm on a quieter tire I can still feel it. I have the bushing sitting in the garage. Just got to take the time to do it but since Toyota is supposedly working on a fix I can hold off for a little since I'm still covered on the PT warranty and its been doing it for 3 years. The other thing is I'll probably need the CVJ replaced due to scoring. Neither vibe has gotten any worse. BTW I tried every level of CB drop just found it just got worse as I dropped it more. I may try a 2 deg shim some time. Non issue so far since anything over 40mph she's smooth and quiet.

HB Taco--Not sure what the 3/8" spacers added to the lift exactly because I put the coils, billys and spacers all at once. I can tell you that I got a little more than 2 1/2" total as of today. It was over 3" of lift after install, but I think the Eibachs have settled a little in the last month or so. You see that with your coils?

With about 70k on the truck it needed new shocks and tires. I installed Bilstein 5100s @ 1.75" to level it out and noticed the vibration the first time I took it out. I was getting it strong at 34 mph and again at 43 mph. It was also faint at other speeds.

Throwing it in 4wd made it go away and there was definitely extra slop in the drive axle. I was worried because my truck is out of warranty but apparently a new diff would only buy me some time. This bushing was the perfect solution for the problem, far less slop and no vibe.

    Thanks Chase/ECBS and TacomaWorld!

    Hey fellas,

I'm experiencing a slightly different issue, I'm getting a bad vibration when switching into 4WD that becomes really noticeable around 40mph and goes away when switching back into 2WD. I Installed a 2.5" ICON lift with Light Racing UCAs and replaced both CV axles and front wheel bearings. Also performed the diff drop and Just not sure what it could be. My Taco is a manual with 103k on her and was wondering if anyone had a similar issue, or could provide some insight?? I know I'm about due for a clutch job, but don't think that is the issue and This sucks!!!

Could someone elaborate on how the ARB fixes the problem?

Reason I'm asking is my drivers side is leaking, I grabbed the inner axle and pushed up on it to check for movement (check if bearing is bad), it moves about an 1/8" up and down.

So i have an ARB locker up front and plan to replace the seal but if I need to replace the bearing is it the same part as OEM?

ARB already uses a bushing like the one Chase developed.
