I've been there many times. But I want to get my husband up there. The closest he's been to Canada is Niagara Falls (American side). Now that we've finally got our passports, that'll happen soon. Most all my relatives live up there and my parents go up there often (our entire family was born there).

See, here's the beauty of this country. We have two totally different groups of people who with every change of the party in power go nuts and claim the country is going to hell in a hand basket. When Bush became President, liberals hated his guts the second he got elected. They also claimed that
right away. They also made lude comments and created ugly pieces of artwork showing Bush as Hitler, a monkey, or whatnot. They kept it up the whole 8 years. But now that the party that got elected changed to Democrats, now its the Republicans turn to do exactly the same damned thing- to claim that the country is going to hell in a hand basket, make derogatory comments, make rude pictures, and fall off the deep end.

The beauty of all of this is that there's a lot of countries where you'll have the same damned party for sometimes decades on end. Look at Japan- they had the same party for over 50 years. Now they have a new party elected. In some countries you have no choice because the leader is a dictator who kills people. Yet still in others there are still monarchies where the leader is only a leader because of his/her birth. But in this country, no matter how much you like/dislike the current leader, a new one will get elected every 8 years no matter what. Be thankful you have that choice, and be glad you can freely criticize.

Look at the unemployment rate during the Bush years. Then check that against what it has done since Nov.

Has nothing to do with the current administration because the economics that created he recession happened during the previous administration's tenure. The recession was a direct result of the housing bubble, which occurred between 2002-2005 or early 2006.

But in my opinion, its sort of dumb to blame Presidents for the economy since most of the economy is controlled by Wall Street, banks, financial concerns and the Fed. If you want to find someone to blame personally, the closest you could come would be Allen Greenspan, who kept interest rates too low for too long, which created a cheap money, which in turn started the housing boom.

If you recall, Bush's economic policy was to do nothing about anything. Thus the market went absolutely crazy and unregulated. But whether he should've done more is another question. But I don't blame Bush for the recession any more so than Obama.
