Hey Ten, Im guessing from your wipeout video you have a GoPro? I'm in the market for one. Is there any reason I shouldn't buy a Hero4 Silver? Should I save some cash and get a cheaper version?

Check this out before you buy a gopro http://contour.com/

The contour is sleek and fit nicely on the side of your helmet, you can use your phone as view finder and its got nice features.you don't need to use the plastic case unless you go under water...

I'll try to post some ski footage once I get home tomorrow.

    Cheers

    I love mine.

I had a hero3 white, the hero4 is not much different, I just got the hero3 black on ebay for 130 with free shipping, If you are in the market and want to save some cash I would recommend getting the 3 black. Shoots very high quality with minimal differences then the 4 silver.

    Here are a few shots.

I have the 3+. My wife bought it for me :)
I don't know the difference but I can use mine with the app and have a live feed to my phone. I can get countour stuff at wholesale but GoPro is much better and there are just more options/mounts for GoPro.
I can get the new Sony camera at wholesale too and that doesn't look bad...

Any gopro above the 2 can be used with the app, The difference is the ones that have wifi(Blacks) and shoot 30 or so more fps. If you do not have any use for the blue tooth and wifi, and just want video and pictures, I would strongly recomend checking out the "Hero" they just came out with, it is just a camera without all the other add ons. It retails for 130, but like i said in my older post I got a 3 black for that price. Here is a link to the hero.
Cant go wrong, it shoots in 1080p

    Thanks ^^^

My 3+ does have the wifi, 1080p, 30/60 FPS.
The camera is controllable through the phone with the app.
On/off, all settings and even the live view. All that seems worth the extra $

Agreed, I had the 3 white, so I was able to do all of that through the blue tooth, but if on a budget and don't need those features its a great alternative. I lost my gopro wakesurfing, we were able to watch it sink through the app. was probably 60 feet before we lost the connection. Needless to say I learned my lesson.

I guess the benefit is the wifi is you can transfer to your computer without plugging it in?I would think that would take forever and drain the battery in a heartbeat. Any experience with that 1080?

No not yet, I haven't tested the signal strength yet either to see how far away the wifi will work with the phone.
I want to do some water footage and shots too so I'm going to invest one of the Orange 3M stick on floaties. My buddy has one and said it works great.
Is also like to pick up a set of lanyards just as an extra precaution because I would hate to lose it.

    That sucks about yours.

Yeah, my new one just came so I am stoked. Going to whiteface next weekend and sugarloaf the following, so should have some good footage from those too trips.

Definitely get the floatys, and if you are using the suction mount teather it off to something as well. I put mine off the stern when it was dry and it was solid... I think the vibration through the boat loosens it up. anywho, take precaution with water sports.

Nice, let me know how Whiteface is.
I need to get up there. Haven't been all year. Heard the conditions weren't the greatest. I skied there my whole life. Grew up there and raced for a while.

I will say Killington is 2x the mountain. The conditions are sooo much better. Whiteface has some good steep and long runs and the slides are great when they're open but the wind, sub-zero temps and wind just kill the mountain. Awesome spring skiing there and the best Après Ski you can find. My wife worked at the Cottage for years, awesome spot. Lot of sick restaurants and bars off the beaten path.
    Hope the conditions are awesome!
PM me if you're intersted in any ideas if you're hanging around LP!

I love whiteface, I raced 13 years which is what brought me to Plymouth state in the first place. I dont mind the weather Whiteface brings, it keeps all the tourists out, and crowds down. If you dress right it is just like spring skiing. Crowds is part of why I stay away from killington. Love that place during the week, but is also one of the places I cant ski for free(don't know anyone there anymore) So I stick to the places I can hit for free. Placid is an awesome town to bum around in. super stoked to get there for a few days

I only ski during the week, so its perfect. Natural snow, I put up with Whiteface winter for my whole life, I don't race anymore (competitively) so F that place! haha give me the bumps and powder! I'm far from a fair wether skier and have been on the hill with -20* temps without windchill!! I'm over it haha

I was supposed to fly out of newark, NJ Tuesday morning. After seeing the weather forecast I changed my flight to 6am tomorrow (Monday) hopefully I don't get delayed or anything. Going to Taos,NM to snowboard for a few days. Doesn't look like they are getting any snow, but 50* and bluebird skies isn't bad either!
