I do too but I also look at the maintenance portion too. A lot of great how to write ups. I have never done this much maintenance on my truck before.

Thanks, it's just a 3" body lift (according to the dealer).

The 285/65/18's rubbed a tiny bit, but these TRD 285/75/16's rub pretty bad. Everyone I've talked to so far has lead me to believe I need 285/70/17, so it's time to find new wheels and put both of these sets online.

This didn't happen in a day, but I picked my Taco up last Friday from the dealership from an S/C install. Ran great until Monday night, check engine light came on so I pulled over immediately. Checked over everything, looked fine. Got back on the road and headed for the dealership. Not 2 miles down the road she overheated and blew antifreeze everywhere. Needless to say, the tech forgot one clamp. Blew a head gasket, and the block is no good. The dealership has been amazing to work with, they are putting a complete brand new engine in as we speak and have kept me updated through the whole process. On top of that, the complete install was 670 out the door.

Here is the chain of events...

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
    Usual oil change, and

Since the stock dunflops had 65k and looking long in the tooth, decided it was time for some new shoes. Picked up some Hankook Dynapro 265/75/16. Stoked:headbang:

That is insane. Glad they're taking care of you. I would hate to be that mechanic that forgot a clamp.
I haven't needed 4WD in 5 years of driving trucks.
But for real, if I bought another truck before I get a keeper truck it would be 4wd if they didn't want some stupid amount for it.

Wait a minute. You realize all three of those tire sizes are pretty much the same, right? I really doubt going from a 285/75/16 to a 285/70/17 is going to solve any problems you may have. Any difference you find is probably due to rim backspacing, not tire size. If you want to run 285's, you're probably going to have to deal with some rubbing or do some minor trimming.

^^^This for sure! On paper all 3 tires should be the same width and the 285/65 is 32.6" tall, the 285/70 is 32.7" tall and the 285/75 is 32.8" tall. I'll bet all 3 are pretty damn close to the same height and the numbers (the 65/70/75) are just rounded to the nearest 5.

The more backspacing your wheels have and/or the wider they are the more rubbing you are going to see on the firewall and cab mount. Have you trimmed your cab mount at all? I think it's very unlikely that you can run a 285 and never rub the cab mount (unless you are running a 6" drop bracket lift maybe).

That sucks! Dealership sounds like they're doing you right.
